Peter Horne Memorial Grip Strength Day 2007

Hello David,

I have damaged my back quite badly, training on the 25th March, so I do not think that my poundage will be massive on Saturday - that said I have lifted 280+ yesterday but I am being very gentle with myself at the moment, we'll see what happens at the contest.

I am going to come over on Friday, and stay near the venue. I will bring the Ivanko plates over to you so they are ready for the competition on Saturday.

I was pleased to hear that you are competing again, and I wish you all the best for the contest in the States.

If you could send me a PM so that I could have your number, that way we can make arrangements for Friday.

Unfortunatly, I don't think I will be doing any other lifts at the competition - I would sooner walk out than get carried or dragged out.

I will speak with you soon,

Laine.

Laine,

Sorry to hear about your back injury, hopefully it's eased off a bit for Saturday.

Thanks for your comments about competing. I just seem to miss it. It would be easy to sit back on my so-called laurels, but I still want to challenge myself, and competing against others achieves this. Unlike old boxers who come back, the worst that can happen to me is I lose. I have competed in over a 100 contests and have tasted defeat before, so am not scared that I will taste it again. As I've said in another post, I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of new guys, and boy there are some strong guys out there!

I will pm you my number now.

David

Here's an interesting note.

I had some nasty dentistry at lunchtime today, and my face was still sore when I started training some 30 minutes ago. It wasn't going well, especially with the heavy exercise I was doing, and I ended up coming in seeing stars!!

Laine Snook then phoned me for some info about friday night, and so after this call I decided bugger it lets get out and have a REAL go. The phone call seemed to get rid of the lacklustreness that was affecting me, and hey presto, some great reps were achieved on a weight far heavier than what I was struggling with previous to the call.

This is just to show you that sometimes you may be going through the motions, and need some kind of external flame to ignite you.

Cheers Laine :yikes

Haha!

Not at all.

I've just taken about 30 mins to munch through a salad on one side of my mouth. :whacked

I've 'sold' many the idea that they need to compete - that's a massive external flame for me.

Thanks for having us David and Liz, it was good fun to have a go and see some big weights being shifted / steel being destroyed.
