hey,

guess what dude? i was looking into contests, and i might be going to this...all those events favor me, except for the axle press, but thankfully its light....looks like you will smoke some people on farmers man....im not sure yet, but there is a small chance i might be there...you are under 231 right? then we would be in the same class...let me know whats going on...those stones dont look all that hard either, if they are only on wine barrels

That would be sweet if you could make it. I watched the contest from the sidelines last year(wrist injury) and the wine barrels did not look that high. I am in the under 231 class. If he does the axle press the same this year it is a full clen and press each rep instead of some of the contests that allow you to just clean it once and press till your done. Right now I am having trouble with my endurance for this.

clean an press each rep....well doesnt that sound cheery....wonderful...no man, i have a wine barrel at home, and i have loaded a 300+ lb natural stone on it, so i think i could get all 5 stones..how is your stone strength?

My stone strength is horrible! By far my worst event! I have a 200 pound natural stone that I can load up to shoulder height without a problem, but I have a atlas stone that I made that weighs 270 maybe a little more and I cant lift it up. I really need to get those numbers up fast. Have you ever used tacky? I have never tried it and was wondering how much it helps.

Everything was tired today so I did some front squats with my new set of squat stands that I just got for free!

Walked over to my atlas stone cause this morning I had just replied to mossman how I still could not pick up my stone that weighs around 270 or so. BAM! Picked that sucker right up! I was so excited that as I brought it up to my chest I dropped it! It rolled around on my lawn which is soaked from the rain and got completly covered. It was to wet to get a grip on and pick up again. By far, picking up that stone was the greatest feeling workout thing I have ever done. I cant wait to build a platform and actually practice loading it!

hey man, great job pickin up that stone.....when you get some more strength in your posterior chain, you will kick ass at this, because i know you have the height...im kind of short for this event, im like 5'11'', so you have an advantage here.....im telling ya man, hit GM's and box squats hard....thats what you need for stones.....and plenty of hammer curls

Bencrush, thanks but I think you thought my bench press was an overhead press. My overhead push press right now is pretty bad. I can push press 181 and split jerk somewhere over 200. I can only clean 191 on the axle and the jerk for that is really easy.

Made a platform to load onto!!!!! Its 4 feet long and 4 feet high. I will get to try to load stuff onto it tuesday. I loaded my natural stone that is 200 on it like a piece of cake. Made it out of fence posts. Me and my dad both got on it and it doesnt move so it will hopefully be sturdy.

oh man.....i just got my 320 stone the other day.. i cant move the damn thing....i need some tacky badly, then i could get it off the ground....it started out on a tall stone porch, and i was able to pick it up and set it back again from there, but then it rolled off and get nice and wet in the grass :dry ....ill let you know if i get it on my wine barrel

320 stone load would be pretty impressive with or without tacky. I am going to order some soon to give it a try.

at work someone threw out 2 35s and 2 45s that are perfect for hubbing. I got the 35 no problem but the 45 just dosnt want to break off the ground. I now want to be able to clean and press my 45 by the hub.

Tried my new stone, couldnt wait. I think it is 240. loaded it twice to 48" I also can hardly stand from my leg workout yesteray. Later in the week I think I will get it for 5 in a row.

Tuesday may 17th

275 got greedy, couldnt stand all the way up with them

Assesment:

1 month from contest.

Farmers: My pickup is weak, but once I get them up I go fast and no drops. Turn isnt very bad either. Definatly need to work on back and leg strength

Axle deads:Going to be my worst event. Right now I got 2 in me, maybe 3 if I went balls out, but I dont want to hurt my back. At the contest I will be going hard as humanly or unhumanly possible.

Loading: Also weak. My pick up of it is bad. I dont have enough chest strength to squeeze an atlas stone up. Still cant load my 260 or so atlas. I would assume that with tacky, an atlas stone is about as hard to lift as a natural stone is without tacky, provided the natural stone does not have easy places to grip, which mine does not. I will order some tacky and see if I can get the atlas up.

Tomorow is OH pressing like mad and I will asses that as well. That is all the events except the tire flip which I have never done. Since my grip is very good I think my weak point on that will be my back and legs.
