Jeff Parker
Because of financial reasons and others I will not be able to go to the Outback Strongman in Ohio. This was really dissapointing because it seems like everytime I am almost ready for a contest 2 months out something goes wrong. I will be able to compete in the Great Lakes Strongman this year. It is only 5 minutes away from my house so I won't have to pay a lot of money in gas to drive or get a hotel like I would in Ohio. Here is a log to follow my progress to compete. I will lists exercises that are either the same as the events or something that will carry over into the events. Here are the events 250# farmers for 100ft w/ one turn 175# Axle clean and press for reps 400# Axle deadlift for reps 600# tire flip for 100ft I think Atlas Stones I was in Florida over spring break last week and caught a bad cold so my first entry will be Thursday. I'll be competing in the under 231 middleweight class. If anyone from the board is competing let me know!

Jeff Parker
stew2, going up 75 its exit 63, so just about an hour or less once you get onto MI. If you are familiar with the area its 13 mile near Dequinder, if you want to go I can give you more detailed directions on how to get there. The weight classes are middleweight under 231 and heavyweight over 232. I watched it last year and it was a good show. Fast to, with only 2 weight classes and 2 sets of farmers, axles and tires it was over in under 5 hours if I remember right. Heres the link to the contest form http://www.nastrongman.com/contestinfo/for...1805MIEntry.pdf

Jeff Parker
Sun the 27th Farmers not timed 187x100ft w/ one turn: no drops easy 207 same distance, no drops, also easy 217 same, no drops, harder My farmers are bending yet again so I had to stop. I am going to go up the steel supplier and get some solid stuff and make a real nice set. No more pipe. I have had to fix and improve my sets twice and it will only get worse the heavy weight I use Axle deadlift 141x1 231x1 301x1 371x1 401x1 Was the only set I tried to get another one on and failed. When I deadlift with a reverse grip I have my left hand palm up and my right palm down. When I lift near my max the bar starts to turn to the right and makes it a lot harder. Anyone else have this problem?
stew2
Thanks for the link I checked it out going to try and make it. Won't be entering though some of those events I can't cover the weight not enough ass to back it up that much yet. But I've been trying to talk my younger brother into entering I think he would at least be able to give it a shot. Just out of curiousity what do you weigh? I'm around 185# so I'm guessing that would be close to the bottom of that pack.
Jeff Parker
I am between 222 and 227 depending on what I've eaten. I am trying to stay under 231 for this contest and then I will go up in weight from there.
Jeff Parker
30th of march Just did a full body workout at the gym at school between classes. front squats, clean and presses, incline bench, lat pulldowns, tricep pushdowns, hammer curls. Only had about 50 min so everything was done very fast and not as heavy as usual. on the 1st I will do legs.

Jeff Parker
Flat bench 135x10 185x5x2 195x2 Seated dumbell press 60'sx9,8 50'sx12 Behind the neck presses 115x8,6,5 First time doing these, really burned the backs of my shoulders Behind the head tricep extension-seated 60x8 55x10 Skull crushers w/ french curl bar 55x6,5 45x8 Front raises, palms inward 25'sx8 2o'sx10 side raises 35'sx10 Did various chest and tricep machines So the problem with my bench and OH press is my triceps. My buddy who i regularly train with can bench a lot more, standing strict press more and blow me away on any tricep movement. However, I can push press more, and do any shoulder raises more. You can tell by my log my tricpes suck. I have been working them pretty hard and they are getting stronger, but they are still weak.
Jeff Parker
april 3rd did an upper back/bicpes and forearm workout. Nothing really to not april 4th axle clean and press 161x6 161x5 175x2 Lost the 3rd rep cause I slipped. Log press 160x4x2 Hammer curls 55x6 41x12x2 Close grip push-ups with handles bodyweightx13 plus 10#s x6x2 Lots of shoulder flys to finish I had wanted to do farmers and deadlifts today also but during class today we were playing soccer and my foot caught a kick to the side and its pretty bruised up and swollen. Ill give it a chance to heal a little before I put lots of pressure on it
Jeff Parker
Took me a total of 6 hours of welding to finish my new set of farmers. They weigh 46#s empty each. It is made with a 5 foot section of 1.5ID schedule 40 pipe with a 1" HR solid bar welded inside. The handles are 1"ID pipe with 1"steel welded inside them. For something to stop the weights I used 5#plates. I would have used the 25s cause it would have been much heavier but I had 8 5's and only 4 25's. They are definatly solid this time. The only problem....all the bending over hurt my back. It is still very sore so I had to take it easy. Thick bar curls 61x12 71x12 81x12 Upright rows 95x10 105x10 My back already started tweaking so I quit.
