R/H 3 secs/ 2 secs.

R/H Deadlift with extra 3 kg on the dumbell.

Then other training.

My holds were not as good tonight, yet I felt good before I started. Maybe not recovered from the last session.

My first entry!

Monday Dec 6th.

I have never tried this lift before. My inch was up to smitty's for two weeks. I got it on Friday, but did not make any attempts. Lifted Saturday, but did not take the inch out of my car. Sunday, I was hungover from my Company Christmas Party, so the first I could try it was Monday.

I can not budge the thing off the ground. With an assited lift, I am only able to pause it at the apex for a fraction of a second before it is ready to drop out of my hand.

Several sets with each hand. Probably 10 with my left and 6 with my right.

I had to cut the workout short however, because while working on a hard Elite assisted close, it felt like something popped in my left temple. Quickly puked up something and packed my stuff up and went home. Couldn't even watch all of wrestling.

Wednesday Dec. 8th.

Much the same Inch training, only I cupped it lefty and regular lifted it righty. Mixed in some cupped attempts from the floor and broke a globe off the ground twice. Then, did assisted cup lifts and a few thumbed lifts (speaking of lefty).

With the MM3 coming in the next few weeks, I just can not afford to over train my right hand on thickbar, so for now, my main concentration for this challenge will be performing left handed, which normally is stronger at thick bar anyway. However, with my weak wrists, I have a lot of work ahead of me.

I am very happy David set this up - my wrists have been needing an attacking for some time now. Need to bring up that weakness. Gee wizz.

No problem with the temple tonight - kept breathing in and out, which I normally do not do when I squeeze grippers.

Was very happy to stir the inch enough with a cup grip to get a globe off the ground. PR BABY!.

Jedd,

Good to see the PR, I think you'll come on well with this and of course strengthen your wrists.

What's with the Temple pain and throwing up? You had this checked out?

Then armwrestling training.

I was tired all day today, and thought training would be shit. But it turned out pretty good, just goes to show you. I feel my wrist strength is probably at about 85-90% of where it has been when at it's best ever, so this has got me enthusiastic about getting back to those heady heights.

Once again thanks to Jedd, this will make a big difference some time next year in a contest.

Why's everybody keep asking me that???

I am banking on it being leftover hangover. I puke at the gym all the time from post-nasal drip.

I wasn't sure how I'd do today as I was out for a serious moshing :mosher time at The Buzzcocks concert last night with all the guys, and had a few beers as well! Anyway the Inch felt light today for the first time which is very pleasing, maybe this indicates that I need more beer :) .

Well we're all out for the Gym Christmas meal in a couple of hours.

Yes Franky I don't drink, but thought I'd have some with everyone last night and it was good. But 4 and 1/2 pints was enough for me :upsidedwn

David,

What else are you doing for your wrists in preparing for arm wrestling? Never thought of doing thick bar cupped work for arm wrestling but it sounds like a great idea. Are you doing your wrist curls with only the thick handle as well? Good luck to both men, should be a fun log to read.

James,

I do a lot of wrist curls as well, and some other stuff, but MOST importantly I do lots of armwrestles, twice a week. This is a must, as I've just told Austin Slater.

Dan,

Hopefully soon. I bought Elizabeth a new digital camcorder, and we're just waiting for a piece to go in the computer so that it can be uploaded or something. I know very little about this kind of thing. Anyway she will be doing the Speilberg stuff. All the other video footages of me have been done by others.

7th Session

Inch Holds (thumbless)

R/H 5 secs/ 2 secs

L/H 1" lift/ 1" lift

Inch Dumbell Wrist Curl, ROM.

R/H x 1, not great style.

Then other training.

I have started a diet today :( (It's not fun) as I really have put too much weight on too soon, and unfortunately some is on my stomach and I wanna get rid of this. It also has made me feel quite sluggish at 114k, so I believe this is too heavy for me.

Tuesday Night

Several assisted lifts with my left hand as the principle hand. Each one, I tried to pause at the apex of the assistance.

Trying still to break both bells from the ground without assistance.

Some 3 second holds with the bell aloft, holding with assistance.

With my right hand I worked grippers.

Left wrist sore today! Anyway training is going well, I've ditched the diet after 2 days, I hated it, and it also made me feel unwell. So I'm just eating healthly and doing some cardio and abs everyday. Far better. :)

David-

It is feeling like my hand is going to pull off my forearm when I lift like this.

Your performance is truly remarkable, and very motivating.

It's not easy. I haven't heard of that many who find it easier than the thumb over method. I never could understand why Ironmind banned it for their rolling thunder comps and records as most find it more difficult.

Dave, you were lifting over 120kg on the rolling thunder using this method if my memory serves me correctly? Just around the time they changed the rule…
