FrankyBoy
09-30-04 Rolling Thunder Not a good workout today. Goals was 10x4 sets. Left: 54.5 kg Results: 4,4,4,4,3,2,3,2,1,2 Right: 61.24kg Results: 4,3,3,2,1,2,2,3,1,1 I guess the start weight of 85% was chosen to high in the first workout. FrankyBoy
10-01-04 Apollons Axle and Vertical Bar Uh, those events shouldn't be trained on the same day if the intensity was high on the A.A. I tried to do more singles near my 1RM. A.A. 1x5x50kg 1x2x90kg 1x110kg 1x130kg PR 0x135kg (that was so close. Actually full deadlift, but couldn't pull my shoulders back and the knees were slightly bent) 1x130kg 1x125kg Vertical Bar 40kg: 1xL, 1xR 60kg: 1xL, 1xR 80kg: 1xL, 1xR 90kg: 1xL, 1xR 95kg: 0xL 100kg: 1xR The hands felts terrible so I stopped the V-Bar training here and will do it again on saturday. FrankyBoy
Thanx guys. The Vertical Bar is the event which suits me very well, to my surprise you should know. Funny that this is one event in the GBB VII. I have learned now how to get a good friction on the bar so that this insn't an issue any longer. I hope to get 130kg (~286lbs) before the germans. Progress on the Apollons Axle is visible but hard to make. This is my second rest day, I will to another contest simulation tomorrow. FrankyBoy
10-05-04 Contest Simulation My right hand had an off-day. Probably due to my first successful bend of a yellow nail yesterday. Today I have a strange pain in my right hand extensors. I assumed to have three attempts on each event with a 1-minute rule per attempt. 1. RT Left: 57.5kg 1x 62.5kg 1x 65.0kg 1x Right: 67.5kg 1x 70.0kg 0x 2. Straphold w/ RB210 and 2.5kg 40secs 3. IM-Pinch Grip Block Left: 15.0kg 1x 17.5kg 1x 20.0kg 0x Right: 17.5kg 1x 20.0kg 1x 22.5kg 0x That thing is simply to slippery. 4. Apollons Axle 125kg 1x 130kg 1x 5. Vertical Bar incl. bar Left 92.5kg: 1x 97.5kg: 1x 105.0kg: 0x Right 102.5kg 1x 110.0kg 1x 115.0kg 0x Comparison of my last Contest Simulation with the one of today RT: 127.5 -> 132.5 +4% Straphold: 30secs -> 40secs +33% Pinch: 40kg -> 37.5kg -6% A.A.: 125kg -> 130kg +4% V-Bar: 185kg -> 197.5kg +7% (In the last Simulation I didn't count the weight of the v-bar) Not too bad considering my right hand. I will do a two days rest and then start again with an easy RT training.
FrankyBoy
There's a new mathematician in town. Vertical Bar 97.5kg+110kg=207.5kg (not 197.5kg ) So the progress on the v-bar was 185kg -> 207.5kg +12%.

itch85
nice log frankyboy, can i ask where you got the ironmind nails from if you got them somewhere other than the ironmind site and how much the shipping was, it will be roughly the same to the uk i think. Keep up the good work
FrankyBoy
I ordered them at ironmind. And yes shipping is very expensive. If you have contact to an US citizen you should ask to let them order for you and ship them to you. Much much cheaper. nice log frankyboy, can i ask where you got the ironmind nails from if you got them somewhere other than the ironmind site and how much the shipping was, it will be roughly the same to the uk i think. itch85
have you always done singles with your RT franky or is that just your training atm. Cos my RT sucks ass and need a good way to start off training
FrankyBoy
itch, for a while I used a rep scheme on the RT. Check this earlier workout report: Rolling Thunder and German Volume Training Actually I love those schemes. I stopped it due to a proper contest preparation. However, I had problems using such a high volume on the RT and train 4 other events too.
itch85
so each session you did a 1rm test then 10 sets of 10 reps or as many as you could get out of it
FrankyBoy
Right. If I got 10 reps in the 10th set I increased the weight for the next workout. The first sets will feel easy. so each session you did a 1rm test then 10 sets of 10 reps or as many as you could get out of it ←

FrankyBoy
10-15-04 Vertical Bar Day All weights excluding the bar (~2.5kg) 40kg 1xL, 1xR 60kg 1xL, 1xR 80kg 1xL, 1xR 100kg 1xL, 1xR 105kg 1xL, 1xR 110kg 1xL PR , 1xR 115kg 1xL PR , 1xR 117.5kg 1xL PR 120kg 0xL, 1xR 122.5kg 1xR PR 125kg 2x0xR Incredible improvement on my left: 102.5kg -> 117.5kg Strong new PR on the right: 122.5kg I have added a movie of that attempt in the new movie gallery: 125kg attempt on the LGC v-bar Total (incl. bar) 120kg + 125kg = 245kg Well those are the good news. I got greedy and tried 125kg twice and totally ripped off my callouses on my right. Since there are still two weeks left to the germans there hopefully will be no problem. For those having problems seeing the movies in the gallery due a lower bandwidth, here a link to my site, so you can download in first. 125kg LGC vbar Edited October 15, 2004 by FrankyBoy

FrankyBoy
Thanks! I only had about a dozen times contact to the vbar, so theres still much potential to improve. Good thing is that all the other competitors don't like that event, I'm gonna to love it. nice lifts franky as usual, you killed that 125 ←
