Roark
Edging back into the wrist curls: bar x 12 95 x 10 115 x 10 145 x 6 190 x 1 (so easy I knew it would be a good day) 200 x 5 (over knees) 165 x 10 (over pad) I will not go above 200 until I can get ten reps. At that point, I will go to 210 and max out. Slow and steady. The right inner elbow hurts a little but certainly not the pain of a few days ago. The Mac
Congratulations Joe!! In the face of injuries, your determination on this lift is impressive.
Roark
Thanks, Chris. A friend tells me that he has goals, but no deadlines; that is, he will achieve his goal without a time table.I have adopted that attitude for the wrist curl of 250- if I can avoid injury, it will be done, hopefully by sometime next year. I believe 300 is beyond my ability, but 250 is possible (I hope).
Guest David Fralick
Great workout Roark! I'm sure you will hit 250. I think 300 would put you in the top 1/2-1%.
Roark
This morning after warmups: 200 x 9 220 x 1 185 x 6 I figured the 200 for 9 reps was about as warmed up as I was going to become, so I thought the 220 might work. It did! Forward. Hopefully next workout I will get my ten reps with 200, then jump to 210 for the max set. The heavy singles will be tried only every two or three weeks. I feel that when I can get 225 for 10, I probably am at a point where 250 for one rep is realistic. Hopefully, we shall see!
EricMilfeld
Roark, I notice after adding a relatively small amount of weight your reps drop significantly. Is this a representation of your ratio of fast to slow twitch muscle fibers, or are you intentionally taking it easy with the heavier weights for safety concerns? You're making great progress and lifting some serious weight, by the way.
Roark
Not really sure why- though I do NOT plan to become injured again. I have no desire to go above ten reps in heavy wrist curls. This morning I wasn't planning on trying 220 after my set with 200, but I wanted to see if it would happen. Dionysus at ironage.us may be interested in getting in the wrist curl club- I told him about witnesses etc., and he is stronger than I, so hopefully he will join us. Guest David Fralick
Its been 20 days since i worked out(had a lot going on) but i'm back! I think if i was working out fresh(and not at 2 a.m.) i could have gotten 200. With any luck 200 will fall by my birthday. Also after 135x10 i felt very strong so i tryed to pinch 2 35s, and lifted them twice to full lock out!(i've never even broke them off the ground befor) Nov. 27 135x10 185x1(was too easy so i went for 200) 200x(just missed it) 65x500(did it in sets of 40-20reps)
Roark
David, Congratulations!!! The 200 will very soon be yours, so arrange the witness and be placed in the 200 Club! Like you (but for injury reasons) I have not been doing much wrist curling, but decided to try yesterday and got 220. It seems to be a form of strength that does not require as much frequent training to maintain. Here, Here!! Thanks for joining my the ironhistory.com forum, by the way! Guest David Fralick
I agree wrist strenght seems to be easy to maintain. Last night I was playing around with DB wrist curls and got 100x1.
Roark
Not having done any wrist curling for about 3 weeks because of my right elbow, last week I did a few with 135 lbs to see how it felt. Okay. Then a couple of days ago I tried 155 okay. This morning: bar x 15 95 x 10 125 x 10 135 x 10 155 x 6 175 x 6 200 x 4 but I nudged three ofthem with a heel raise. Back on track though
