Sybersnott
John Wood, Who is this friend of yours that can't yet close a Trainer, but can lift the Inch? Maybe he and I can surgically switch hands.... I'll give him one of mine for one of his!! I can close a #3, but still can't pick up an Inch!!! BTW, mob.... yes, I still have a long way to go. Remember though, you've been training a lot longer than I have!
John Wood
His name is Travis. He was a player here at Michigan. Hes done now and lives out in California. I find his abilities rather amazing. It just goes to show you cant judge a book by its cover. You would think there would be some sort of correlation in that case, but I guess not. I also saw one of the weakest human beings ever just toy with the inch. He was a 7'2" basketball player. He picked up the inch and walked for 50 feet or so and said "what the hell am i supposed to do with this?" He couldnt benchpress 225 even one time or incline press 115. I bet he could have cleaned the inch but he failed out of school so well never know.
Bill Piche
Hand size is everything on the Inch. To prevent rotation... Again, what guy under 5'10 and 200 lbs has every lifted the Inch?
Roark
John, A man of your friend's height has a hand length of what, ten inches? If so, it is 2.25" longer than the circumference of the bell. That is similar to me lifting a bar 1.75" diameter, or someone with a hand length of 5.7" lifting a standard olympic bar. Wannagrip, I believe the answer to your question is Bruce White.
Guest Harlan Jacobs
Oldguy, When I use your formula, I am not even close to being able to touch my fingers and thumb. Hand is 7 7/8 Divided by 3.14 = 2.5. I can't touch my thumb to my fingers untill I get to a diameter of 2 1/8.Now I will say that the pad for my thumb is very thick ,so that might have something to do with it. Roark
Harlan, Fairbar will not enable you to touch middle finger tip to thumb tip. Though I think that is the absolute fairest way to have a thiick bar contest, the thumb placement on the hand is shorter than the first wrist line, of course, so some of the 'useable' length of wrist line measurement is in fact thwarted, depending on where an individual's thumb attaches to the hand. I may have mislead some by my statement that another way to determine a Fairbar size would be to get a bar where middle finger/thumb tip touch. That would be a shorter measurement than hand length, but would be even better than Fairbar because the hand is in its best coverage grip. Other than trying several size bars it is difficult to ascertain such a measurement, hence the Fairbar idea. Unclear writing on my part. Sorry. KJM
Wanna, I believe that Bruce White lifted the Inch. Are you under 200lbs now?
Sybersnott
Ask a dumb question time: Hasn't Joe Kinney also lifted the Inch? I know Wanna is training to do it, among others (myself included).
Bearcat 74
Hasn't Joe Kinney also lifted the Inch? Yes
Sybersnott
Thanks Heath. Would you happen to know the details on that?
Bearcat 74
Yes, he picked it up.......
Bearcat 74
Actually, I think he got one of IM's original bells. Joe told me he lifted it right off the bat. Between his huge sweep and thumb strength, I belive it. He also has a couple of friends that have lifted his bell, and another Inch his friend owns.
