Pressing The Inch

With the standard here in the UK at the moment it's unlikely. I'm no where near strong enough! Strongman has really come a long way in the last 5 years. A few years ago on farmers walks for example they were using 275/hand for speed in the british finals now i have seen novice comps with the same weight!

well you are still young, i think you will keep improving. good job

Thanks guys! I have a 156lb solid bell i'm going to work on repping that next time i train this movement then go back to the inch and see what i can do. I'll set myself a goal of 5 reps by year's end.

nice work sam when we worked heavy dumbells for training purposes we would hold on to our power rack with the other hand for stability it made it easer to us . but i guess it took some of the core strength out of the lift :D ps that extra 14lb or so is a killer

Interesting idea about holding the power rack, i'll give it a go next time. My core strength doesn't seem to be holding me back at the moment, now that i am 290lbs it is much easier to balance with weight overhead than it was when i weighed 230-240. The shape of the 156lb bell makes it almost as hard to press as my inch replica (instead of globes the bells are cylindrical).
