Yep. I think for strongman you have to be well over 280 to really stand a chance - unless of course you compete in the under 231 class which isn't really a natural bodyweight for me! I can eat 1-2 meals a day and stay around 240-250. How heavy are you these days anyway Morgan? You used to be around 280 didn't ya? I've noticed you've upped the cardio loads recently.

tonight's session - trained in the new gym again today! beats pinching in the kitchen/backyard that's for sure!

2 HAND PINCH

scaled the kit properly and therefore worked up to 3 attempts with 100.5kg - 1 of which was just high enough to pass (according to Will (TAT) and big polish Mark who were watching) but a bit shaky. The others were a whisker off. Then did 6 singles with 95.5kg. this is good, especially considering the rain and the moisture that had settled in. I'm thinking a good 105kg is possible in good conditions now, and this is my new goal for May. 100kg i think will be a safe 2nd lift for me.

PLATE PINCHES

5 5kg plates each hand

BLOBS

25kg legacy york blob 6 full DLs left 2 full DLs right. best i've ever done here.

PLATE WRIST CURLS

high reps with 10kg plate

ha ha - felt like a right twat. Hit a solid 91.7kg at the euros - that 80kg pinch at the brits was greasy when it came round to my turn it actually felt like vaseline had been smeared on it. Immediately after i bombed Loz and H (Loz' best effort on pinch is 110kg+, probably even more now and H has done 97kg) tried it and couldn't lift it either.

Pinch is really coming together Sam, it would be good to see you deep into the top 10.

Thanks Chris, i just need to do it in competition now mate. Since i started training strongman again and got the new gym sorted out it's really improved. Grippers, on the other hand, are way down at the moment for some reason.

The two are possibly not unrelated? On the plus side, though, as far as comps are concerned I would guess you've gained more on the pinch than you've lost on the grippers?

Yeah. At the euros (aug) i did 91.7kg which was a PR. I have put on a good 10kg since then, gradually though, 1-2kg a month.

With grippers i think i could still do the 3.54 elite L and R but not a lot more. But, with it being the vulcan this year - something which i have never excelled at - it doesn't really matter anyway.

did grippers last night,

singles, double and triples with the #3 (each hand) - just a varied mix, getting the 'groove' back.

Rb adjustable for CCS singles level 16 L and an MMS single level 19 R

fairly happy with this session, grippers have really been down lately.

I don't think so hugo. Not with the state of this back of mine. My SI joint has been giving me some problems, especially on log lifting and stones (anything that involves leaning back) so i have stopped these, at least for the time being. On the other hand deadlifting and squatting doesn't affect it.

thanks Sam , i understand what do u mean...

remember watching M.Ver MAgnusson doing the Stones with a perfect "roll technique":-)(not to much "leaning back")

best of luck Sam!
