Benedikt Farsmann
Thanks! I couldn't close that CoC#1 again since my first attempt Am I getting even weaker? 3 days off: Grippers http://s8.directupload.net/images/080623/4qnnv333.jpg Abdomen http://s8.directupload.net/images/080623/yiningvd.jpg Today, I've begun with my full body workout. As you probably see I'm a it rusty... -Ben
Benedikt Farsmann
Didn't have much time for training BUT I closed the CoC#1 again!! 2008-06-25 Grippers 1 day off: CoC #1 single attempts table no set 16x each hand all missed exept first attempt with right hand!! 2 minutes rest inbetween each attempt
Benedikt Farsmann
2008-06-27 Grippers 1 day off: warm-up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeVqkajlPV0 (same as always) I'm sorry for not mentioning the warm-up in my previous posts but I always do warm-ups before training. chart as picture: http://s8.directupload.net/images/080628/p4os7ywo.jpg Aside from that I'm working on detailed statistics for my grip training I suggest to try out crushing rice in a bucket because the gripping movement is very natural and works the thumb as well. Although you have to do high repetitions it's a killer workout! I missed the CoC#1 by 1-2mm with the right and by ~5mm with the left although I felt strong yesterday. Also it seems like my left hand is improving stronger than my right. That's weird because I'm right-handed! -Ben
Benedikt Farsmann
2008-06-29 Grippers 1 day off: CoC #1 single attempts table no set 46x each hand all missed, my left's now stronger than my right... 2 minutes rest inbetween each attempt Maybe I should take 2 days off inbetween workouts!? djulian
I take about 72 hours (2 days) off in between upper body/gripper workouts. It just feels right to my body.
Benedikt Farsmann
I take about 72 hours (2 days) off in between upper body/gripper workouts. It just feels right to my body. Thanks! As others keep telling me the same I will take 2 days of rest in between each grip training. I was discussing my new training routine, including v-bar, RT and so on, with "heavy weight" (thanks Erik!) and finally came to the conclusion to keep it low in the beginning. Another point is that I don't have the time for efficient workouts. In fact I can only spend about 1 hour a day for training which is not enough to concentrate on all aspects of grip training. Besides that I don't have enough room for equipment so I decided on only doing powerball/grippers/hand extension stuff in the beginning. Here's my new routine: http://www.gripboard.com/uploads/121455734...9_907_11792.jpg As my goal is to build up some functional hand strength for my job (electrician), some overall fitness, and beeing able to close at least an CoC#3 (#4 ) in the end, I guess that may be enough. What do you think? -Ben
AnimalCage
Looks like you've got a good schedule going. Have you tried the coin challenge in the Goerner Reborn Forum? If you can hold a coin or object between the handles of your #1, it gives you something to exert force on while trying to hold it in place. It's a great way to improve your consistency with closing a hard gripper. I'm giving it a go after I play with the #1 for a week or two. Benedikt Farsmann
Thanks Alan! I'll keep that in mind. 2008-07-01 Grippers 1 day off: I had to try my CoC#1 with a very wide set (way past CCS) although I usually do TNS closes. I did 3 single attempts per hand without breaks in between and hit the first one with the right very very easily but missed the rest. Guess I'll stick to TNS closes. 2008-07-02 Grippers 0 days off: warm-up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeVqkajlPV0 (same as always) chart as picture: http://www.gripboard.com/uploads/121455734...9_954_96851.jpg I decided to reduce the strength level of the overcrushes to 80% because they turned into holds during my last workout. Now they're fine! I missed the CoC#1 by ~2mm with the right and by ~3mm with the left hand. I also ordered a Powerball which I'm looking forward to train with. Missed the CoC#1 by about 3mm with each hand. For me my training routine is working very well at the moment and my hands had already been sore in the middle of the workout as you can see. Next week I'm going to buy some expand-your-hand bands.

Benedikt Farsmann
3 hours ?? Wow! Thanks! My regular routine, the one with the charts, takes about 1,5 hours. 2008-07-15 Grippers 2 days off: warm-up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeVqkajlPV0 (same as always) Again I didn't have much time so I did a couple of negatives and holds (5-6 per hand) with my CoC#1 that felt pretty good. I managed to get my arms hurt so it was not a total waste of time but my regular routine is much more exhausting. Damn lack of time! I also ordered a full set of HGs, just to have them. HELP!! I'M ALREADY AN ADDICT!!
AnimalCage
I'm guessing this is one of those "lack of time" moments. Hopefully its just the posting you're being held back from.
Benedikt Farsmann
Just arrived at home. big nasty
Man now that is volume training my friend !!! Edited July 28, 2008 by big nasty
Benedikt Farsmann
Man now that is volume training my friend !!! I've been traveling long distances by car and didn't know what to do else. I received a full set of Heavy Grip's today. 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 and 350. I had to give them a try and could easily close the 100 and 150 with both hands. The 200 is a bit harder than my CoC#1 so I missed it. The 250 and the higher ones are out of reach at the moment... anyways the quality of the Heavy Grip's compared to the CoC#1 is very poor. There are scratches on the handles and on the springs. Glue was spilled all over the grippers so I had to clean them first. Very very poor quality at all. I hope they won't break too fast. I'm sorry guys but "made in China" sucks!! Need to get some RB's....
Benedikt Farsmann
2008-07-31 Grippers My left arm was a bit sore so I had to take 3 days off (guess why?? because of work...) warm-up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeVqkajlPV0 (same as always) HG100, TNS, left hand, 1 set, repetitions: 10 HG100, TNS, right hand, 1 set, repetitions: 10 HG150, TNS, left hand, 21 sets, repetitions: 26, 9, 7, 5, 2, 7, 6,3,5,1,3,0,0,5,3,1,2,1,3,3,2 HG150, TNS, right hand, 21 sets, repetitions: 53,14,13,13,11,10,11,9,8,7,8,5,7,8,7,6,5,6,5,6,6 HG200, negatives, left hand, 3 sets, time: 8.6s, 9.1s, 7.7s HG200, negatives, right hand, 3 sets, time: 10.5s,10.6s,10.4s HG100, TNS, left hand, 1 set, repetitions: 22 HG100, TNS, right hand, 1 set, repetitions: 26 I completely opened my hand after each repetition (for sure, that's what TNS is about!) and took 2 minutes rest in between each set per hand. Aww, I also ordered some RB's: RB 130 lbs Standard Version RB 160 lbs Standard Version RB 180 lbs Standard Version RB 210 lbs Standard Version RB 365 lbs Standard Version As I prefer to do TNS closes I'm looking forward to get certified on the RB210. My CoC#1 still is too hard and my HG150 is too easy so I'm going to use a RB130 for training as soon as I receive it.

Benedikt Farsmann
Do you use chalk? No. I've no problem with skin tear if you're thinking about that. My bones hurt instead.
