Rules and levels for the braced Long Bar bends

http://www.davidhorne-gripmaster.com/bracedbending.html

Tell me what you think. I will do the scrolling/coiling and braced and unbraced snapping rules, etc. All this is for the future Champion of Steel contest as I've been getting asked questions and have now only got round to it. Sorry for the delay.

Even though I can't really do any training for this comp, as all my efforts are going into the preperation for the GGC in August, I'm still really looking forward to it. Especially since we have the interest of some big strongmen and I can't wait to see what kind of steel they bend!

As soon as I get the costing of all the steel that will be used then I will get the entrance fee cost up.

I have just booked the Memorial Hall at Great Haywood again for this event. If anyone was at the Champion of Champions Grip contest they will know how good this venue is.

I should have all the steel costs any day, and will get the final rules and entrance fees up.

Please support this venture. There is going to be so much steel there to bend.

If you are a steel bender in the UK, you must be there!!

Can't call myself a steel bender but I'll be there. I'm enjoying the long stuff at the moment, even though I'm not very good :blush. I hope some of the top Uk guys can be there :). Hopefully there will be food and beer to finish off the day.

The scoring in all the events is strongman style, ie. If there is 10 athletes, 10 points for 1st and 1pt for 10th. All the points are added up at the end. If a full bend is not achieved the angle of bend will be noted to denote the placing in that event. If someone cannot snap the nail or bar in the time allocated they will receive 0pts. The event will run quickly, and we will have 3-4 competitors on the stage at all times bending off against each other. Visually it should be good.

Please do support this new venture. There will be A LOT of steel to bend and it should be great fun!

Are entries limited to 10 competitors. If not are those below 10th awarded nil points?

Or do you use a different scoring system for above 10 competitors?

The contest has no limit on competitors, so hopefully plenty of numbers. That was me just showing you how the points will run. If there are 20 competitors, then 1st place in an event will get 20pts, and last place 1pts.

You coming?

Tonight we will probably buy the tickets to fly to Birmingham on the 7th of September.

David, as soon as I've bought the tickets I will transfer the 20 pound entrance fee to your account (I guess the same account as for the handle?).

Is there a train or something we can take from Birmingham to Great Haywood?

Hope to see you all there!!! :rock

Mark,

Great news!

It's a different paypal account - I'll pm it to you.

I'll give you my phone number via pm if you want to ring me right now.

You get the train from Birmingham airport to Stafford. Get accomodation here, possibly at the hotel round the corner. I will take you to the venue on the day of the comp.

I'll pm you now.

So far I have 8 competitors for the day, with a few others saying they may.

Anyway, this event will only be every 4 years like the Champion of Champions so if you are thinking about it get your entry fee to me as you have till the 8th August.

Dave,

Do you have a list of the competitors that will be attending?

This is a good opportunity for the best to show show their skills and promote the sport :). Hopefully there'll be a good turn out.

Richard Scott

Elizabeth Horne

Well with 2 days to go I'm a little dissapointed, but hey people can't complain that there isn't enough comps when they don't turn up. At least it will go quickly. Four athletes will be on the stage at the same time.

It's a nice venue, and there will be a lot of steel to bend, and I'm sure everyone will be tired at the end.

Then we can have food and drink.

Too bad there aren't more people competing, I would have loved to see some of the great names of the GB bend some very big pieces of steel ;)

David, where are all the contestants from? Are they all from the UK?
