Kurt Lane
Decided to start a journal to track my progress since It seems to be pretty slow, hope to be competitive in the strongman scene at some point and time. I also dont want to be over 231lbs ever anyway and think im built to be in the 105KG class, so im going to make the best of it. Also I will include grip on here because I think thats a huge aspect of strongman or rather should be. Here goes... Friday, Febuary 11th 2005 Shoulders/Traps Push Presses 135x2 155x2 185x3x3 (PR) Log Presses 100x3 140x3 160x3 (PR) Lateral Raises 30x5 35x3x5 (PR) Farmers Walk Implaments 180x2x10feet Weight Hold on Back w 2'' Bar 225x10seconds 315x10seconds 385x10seconds Overveiw- Pressing felt really good tonight. Could have hit some new 1rp Maxes but held off. Traps were dead from Thursdays workout from all the powercleans and hang cleans, so I didnt do anything for them cept some practice with farmers. There made out of solid stainless steel bar we got for free and weight 180 Without any Plates. I used in basement so I couldent do much, I will do holds next time. Other then that I ordered a Yoke from lance and am working my way into holding weight on my back. Jeff Parker
It looks like we are at the same level when it comes to the push press on a bar, and for the log press. Actually identical! I just got 185x3 in the push press, and my log empty weighs 160, and I just got 3 with that to. Why do you think we can't do as much on a log as on a bar? What type of exercises are you doing to move up your log press? Are you going to be competing in any contests soon?
Kurt Lane
I hope to start competing very soon. Soon as this summer actully I was going to do the Contest in CT in march but I dont think ill make that long drive. For the log im not sure, I think the fact that the weird starting position and the weight on chest makes it hard because of the awkwardness. Im sure it will get alot bettter tho as time goes on! Hope to hear more from you strongmantobe.

I couldent even deadlift 315 off the ground when my max is 425.. It hurt to get in position for bent over rows, so I did the only thing I could do for back that took stress off lower back. Next tuesday I wont work it so hard on tuesdays, and save it for thursdays. Jeff Parker
How much does your log weigh empty? Mine is 160, so I cant do cheat curls with it yet. I can do halfway between a clean and a curl with it. I do like doing rows with it though. I just got a set of the push up handles and I think because the hand position is the same as with the log, they will make my log press go up. Especially since I am putting my feet up at a high angle to do them.
Kurt Lane
Log empty is only 100lbs. Its a natural log I put handles into.

Also I did do some presses and shrugs on a machine but im not going to bother listing that because I dont know the lbs and its not very important its jsut somthing I had to do while I was waiting.
