isaac
So is your elbow bent at about 90degrees throughout the whole movement? It's a bicep contraction, it just doesnt work the bicep that much. ← I see .
Dave H
Darco, Yes, the late Al Turner - "The Godfather of Armwrestling" - did 235 and Steve Stanaway, a former World Champion and who is now one of the best ref's in the business either did 235 or 255. Check with Randy Strossen about those because Merle Meter wrote about both of those accounts in old issues of Milo. I have copies if you can't find them. Sixgun... Darco
Cool, good to know some numbers. I've heard somebody refer to them as Al Turner curls, that might explain it. 2 Board Table Curl: 60 x 3 65 x 3 70 x 3 75 x 3 80 x 3 82 x 1L 3R 3 Board Table Curl: 71 x 26L 23R I think I will stop at 3 boards then restart because the range of motion on 4 would just be too short. Darco
Dont forget Jon, we have to wait two sessions until I get back to no boards to see if I actually made ANY progress ! I'm assuming I have but I know that yesterday my I was definatly not pleased with my performance because without the decrease in ROM my numbers would be lower than the previous session, so I assume. Jonathan McMillan
Finally made time Tuesday night. Unfort. my bench is bent after experimenting with heavy lockouts back in my benching days (crappy design), so I had to place my bench in a slight incline setting. I tried out various styles of table curling and found keeping my tricep as flat on the bench as possible the most comfortable for me. the style with the upper arm at 90degrees didn't feel that good to me. Found out I am very weak in this movement gonna have fun building strength in it: 50x1, 60x1, 70x1 left only right couldn't even move the bell at all. Wed am: table curl @50 x5 wed pm: table curl @50 x7 No training yet to report for thursday I hope to give them a go at the Y while the boys are taking their tae kwon do. Jonathan McMillan
Got lot's of table curls in this week to report sorry to hear you getting sicky Darco!! Monday: at the Y I had planned on attempting my max dumbell table curl with the upper arm at 90degrees to the bench but ran out of time as the boys were done their swimming lessons earlier then I anticipated: 60x1 Tuesday: at home: inline table curl@55x7 Wed: at home inline table curl@60x3 am, x5pm Thursday at the Y table curl with upper arm at 90degrees to table: 60x1,80x1, 95x1!!!!! 100x1 PR!!!! left only though right only got a few inches of movement. So in my books the challenge is still on Darco got to get it with both hands. Actually I would like to be able to get it done at home in my setup as it is a lot harder -more rom. Jonathan McMillan
Thanks Darco!!! Unfortunantly this is the heaviest db they have at the Y so I won't be able to progress to further lb's there, so the next goal is to get 100lb curl with my table/preacher incline curl at home....I predict much training for that!! Darco
Long session but here's the relevant stuff: 2 Board Table Curls: (2" Handle) 15 x 40 4 x 50 4 x 60 4 x 65 4 x 66 4 x 71 4 x 76 4R x 81 0L 4R x 83 1R x 86 Table Top Wrist Curls: 3 x 135 3 x 155 3 x 175 3 x 185 3 x 205 28 x 155 Me and my training partner push ourselves for this one, he's addicted to squeezing the grippers. He has one of the sickest natural sweeps I've seen, he cant crush the #2, but he can get my RobertBaraban300 to parallel without a set, 3" spread. Jonathan McMillan
Darco I think that 100lb dumbell is starting to tremble of fear of being table curled!!!! If all goes well I will get a session in this week either at home or at the "Y" Jon@han
