H-curls/preacher bench: 50'sx 5-5, 5-5. 70'sx 5-5. 80'sx 1-1, 1-1, 1-1.

DB. W-curls: 30'sx 20-20, 20-20, 20-20.

Table-curl: 30x 20-20, 20-20, 20-20.

Leverage work: 3 pound sledge hammer only. All four angles, many sets and reps.

As you can see, I have reduced the weight a lot in the DB-wrist curls, Table-curls and Leverage work. I am trying to let the elbow heal. The weight I used today was fine. I felt no pain. I tried to up to 50's, but felt a little pain. So I just stayed with 30's. I'll be fine in a week or two.

EZ-curls: 60x 5, 5. 80x 5, 5. 110x 3, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 = 28 reps. (The volume was low tonight because as you will see, I went ahead and maxed out in the W-curl. So I cut the volume to save energy.)

Swingbell W-curls: 55x 5, 5. 105x 5, 5. 185x 2. 210x 2. *235x 3!

Leverage work: 3 & 6 pound sledge hammers. All 4 angles, many sets and reps.

I had planned the max for next Wednesday, but I felt good tonight and went for it. From now on I will make only 15 pound jumps. I have been making 25 pound jumps. But I intend to lean down some this summer and have cut my carbs, so it might slow me down just a little until my body adjusts. By fall though, I'll increase my carbs some and the Wrist-curls will take off. I plan to hit 300 by November. That way, if I fail, I still have a month to nail it down.

many sets and reps.

I took the entire week off of training after my max last Wednesday. I felt strong and refreshed tonight. EZ-curls went up very good.

If you look at my workout on the 26 of Jan, you will see that my 1-rep max that night was 185. After my max last week of 235x 3, I have now moved my working sets up to 185! I used the cards - as usual. After my warm-up set of 3, I drew a King (13) right off the bat. Then a 10 and then a 9! But that's ok. Everything felt fine.

Leverage work: 3 & 6 pound sledge hammers. Many sets & rep. All 4 angles.

Did not work out at all this past week. Was very busy. Long hours at work and my new tractor came in and I had a field to mow. Today, I just played around in the gym. Nothing intense. Everything felt smooth and easy. I actually feel as if I have cheated because I did not do any volume with the weight I was using. I could NEVER just do singles, doubles and triples. I would NEVER get a taxing workout and I would always feel as if I were cheating! That would be just play time for me.

(Study hard as well as train hard! It will make you stronger! Where the BRAIN goes, the body will follow!)

I felt very tired tonight. About 30 minutes before my workout I sucked down some creatine and took a thremo. Once I was in the gym things felt better. Once I had the weight in my hands everything felt smooth. But it was getting the weight in my hands that was the hardest part. In-between sets I didn't want to get out of the chair and leave my desk.

*The EZ-curls were going up great so I decided to do a max. I was leaning toward a single-rep max and was working up to maybe somewhere in the 180 to 190 range by doing triples with the lighter weights. Because I was so tired, a single-rep max sounded good. One pop and I'm done. But my wife was down in the basement doing her workout and she talked me into doing a multi-rep max. (She's aways trying to see how much work she can get out of me.) So that's what I did. I had already gotten up to 120 x 3 which felt great. So, I just dropped back to 110 and I banged out 25. The last 5 reps were breathing reps. I was taking two deep breaths in-between reps. I think on a better day I could have gone 30 but I was so tired and I was pushing to so hard that I actually felt as if my heart were going to burst! I took about 10 minutes to recuperate and then went on to the W-curls.

Hammer-curls off Preacher bench: 50'sx 5-5, 5-5. 70'sx 5-5, 5-5. 80'sx 5-5, 5-5, 5-5.

DB. W-curls: 50'sx 20-20, 20-20, 20-20.

Leverage work: 3 & 6 pound sledge, all 4 angles, many sets & reps.

I did not work out Friday night. My full-time employer threw us a shindig Friday night for all the hours we have been working. Lots of grilled meats and lots and lots of beer. I was in NO condition to workout Friday night. I had to be at work on my Part-time job at 5:30 am on Saturday morning on the west side of Columbus. That's about 1 hour and 5 minute drive. I had to get up at 3:10 am to make it.

I didn't feel that good when I got home Saturday afternoon around 2:30 pm. So I took a thermo and a Red bull and kept everything light and easy. No high-reps and the weights were kinda light. I also had to turn some wrenches on the cars Saturday night, but all is Good! A little hard drinking and lots of hard work never hurt anybody!

EZ-curls: 60x 5, 5. 90x 5, 5. 120x 3, 5, 3, 3, 3.

SB W-curls: 55x 5, 5. 105x 5, 5. 155x 5, 5. 185x (cards) 3, 9, 7, 11, 11,

14, 8, 3 = 66 reps.

Leverage work: 3 & 6 pound sledge hammers, all 4 angles,

many sets and reps.

I felt ok tonight. I mixed my Creatine with a Redbull and chased down a thremo. I was ready in about 20 minutes.

I raised the weight 10 pounds on the EZ-curls but I am still keeping the volume very low to save energy for the Wrist-curls. The EZ-curls went up nice and smooth. The second set was a 5. I will add a rep or 2 every workout just to keep it progressive. But I will do no real big volume in the EZ-curls until the Wrist Curl Challenge is complete and I have hit 300 ( I have made up my mind that I will not stop at 300, but I will jump back on high-volume EZ-curls at that point).

In the Wrist-curls I was smoking! Once at 185 I started with my usual 3 rep opener. Then I drew a 9 and a 7. Then, I drew a pair of Jacks (11's), and Ace (14), an 8 and a tray. That gave me a total of 66 reps.

My heavy volume training is keeping my 1-rep max about 75 pounds above the weight that I have been training with. My next 1-rep max will be 250. That is in that window. As long as I don't calculate above that window, I should never fail at a 1-rep max attempt.

Hammer-curls on Preacher Bench: 50'sx 5-5, 5-5, 5-5. 70'sx 5-5, 5-5.

80'sx 5-5, 5-5, 5-5.

Table-curls: 50'sx 5-5, 5-5. 70'sx 5-5, 5-5. 80'sx 5-5, 5-5, 5-5.

DB-W-curls: 50'sx 20-20. 20-20, 20-20.

Leverage work: Same as always.

I got up at 3:00 am this morning to get to work at 5:30 am. I got home around 2:00 am. I had to dig up about 30 feet of corrugated pipe that drains water under ground away from the house so I could replace the pipe. I started on this about 3:00 pm. About 5:30 pm I told my wife I was going to take a break and do my Saturday workout. Afterward, I went back to working on the pipe until dark. Then my wife and I sat on the porch and drank some beer and talked and listened to the frogs until about 11:30 pm when I went to bed.

I kept everything light and low volume today. I have been very tired! Have been working a lot. As you may have noticed, I did not work out Friday or Monday. All I have been doing is keeping up with my Hand and Arm workouts on Wednesday and Saturday. I have lost some weight this spring as well. I'm down to about 210 from about 215. But that was planned and is ok. My body will adapt to it and get even stronger!

All's good.

135x 5, 5. 175x 5, 5.

As you can see, I finally worked out on a Monday night. I kept the volume low because I wanted to get through this workout. With all the work I did this weekend, I was feeling very tired. But I must get my Monday and Friday workouts back in gear! So I will start by not doing anything that is very taxing. That way, I can get started again with no problem.

185x 3, 10, 9, 2, 11, 12, 8, 15 = 70 reps!!

Leverage work: Same as always.

As you may have noticed, I did not work out at all last week. We worked a lot of hours and i was just to tired. Last Wednesday night we worked until 9:00 pm. I am still beat this week, but I MUST workout!

In-between sets tonight I just sat in my chair with the sweat pouring out. I felt tired. But once I got the weight in my hands, it moved fine. That just goes to show you that true tendon strength will always be there for you.

Still keeping the EZ-curls light for energy for W-curls. But, I did do 1 more rep that my last EZ-curl workout. That way, even though it's light intensity, it's still progressive.

As you can see, on the last set of W-curls I drew a 15 (Joker). I almost cheated by sticking it back into the deck and re-drawing. But I couldn't do that! That's not what I'm about! Once I started the set, it went ok. But I couldn't believe it when I drew that card.

Hopefully I will feel better in a week or two.

Hammer-curls on Preacher-bench: 50'sx 3-3, 3-3. 70'sx 3-3, 3-3.

Leverage work: 3 & 6 pound sledge, all 4 angles, many sets & reps.

I did not work out last night. I drove to Columbus after work to have dinner with Sean Dockery and his wife, Angela. We had a great time and we talked strength for a long time. I got home at mid-night but had to get up at 3:50 am to be at work at 5:15 on my part-time job. I felt good all day, though. When I got home I mowed the back field (2 acres) and then ate a little something and then went down in the gym and had my workout. Afterward, I mowed the yard around the house. (1.3 acres).

The workout went fine. The Hammers felt good. I think I could have nailed 15 reps on the last set, but I had work to do. The same thing with the Table-curls.

I moved the weight up on the DB. W-curls from 50's to 60's. I just was not getting anything out of the 50's. The 60's feel better.

Leverage work:

3 & 6 pound sledge hammers, all 4 angles, many sets and reps.

I hit 255 for 3 reps tonight, but it was tuff! The first one was the hardest. I think the momentum carried me through the next 2. But I did run into some problems before I was able to attempt the set. First, I now have much more weight on the bar than what is comfortable, as my hands are spread apart much to far! This caused a serious strain on the wrists. Also, I think from now on, I need a spotter to help place the bar into my hands. All of this came into play tonight. It was very frustrating. I think I may go to doing the traditional Wrist-curls with a barbell, or, just place some of the weight on the outside of the hands if I stay with the Center-loaded bar. Maybe by doing one or the other, I won't need the spotter.

The EZ-curls felt fine. I added one more rep than last week - keeping it progressive - even though my volume has been cut in order to save the energy for the W-curls. And the Leverage work is also going fine. I need to move to an

8 pound sledge now becuse the 6 pounder is just not doing anything.

EZ-curls: 60x 5,5. 90x 5,5. 120x 3, 5, 5, 4, 3 = 20 reps.

*SB. W-curls: 55x 5,5. 105x 5,5. 155x 5,5. 205x (cards) 3, 14, 4, 12, 14,

12, 14, 5 = 78 reps!

**Leverage work: 4.25 & 8.5 pound sledge, all 4 angles, many sets & reps.

I think I hury my left shoulder a little on the EZ-curls tonight. I was not holding it right or something. It is very pinched in the front delt area.

*I raised the working weight to 205 tonight and placed some of the plates on the ends of the bar outside of the hands. That way, the hands would not be spread out as far. The balance was a little different, but I think I will get used to it fast. I don't plan on maxing anymore this summer.

Also, the cards were not good to me tonight. I started with my regular 3, then I drew an Ace (14). No big deal - only the second set, right? And then a 4. Nice. But then look what happened. I drew a Queen (12), another Ace (14), another queen (12), ANOTHER ACE(14), and ended with a 5! I was teasing my wife about fixing the cards. But really, That's what happens when others stand around and play solitaire with the cards I am using to workout with (I caught someone doing that a week or so ago! LOL). But then, see, the deck becomes jinxed (never the same) and when that happens, I have to replace them. This one will be replaced this week.

**I taped a 1.25 pound plate onto my 3-pound sledge and a 2.5 pound plate onto my 6-pound sledge. Now I have a 4.25 and a 8.5-pound sledge I am working with. And I will refer to them as that. I had a much better workout with the added weight.

I had a much better workout with the added weight.

very good log and loved the sledge work, definitely inspiring me to train my wrists more directly in the future

Big T,

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the log. Just keep training and don't get discouraged. It takes time to reach our goals sometimes.

** I just copied the same reps as I did in the H-curls.

Did not work out all week due to working long hours. I worked my part-time job today and then I had a ton of stuff to do around the place. But worked out after I mowed. Felt pretty good. Felt NO strength let-down what-so-ever. That's the way true strength is supposed to be! It stays with you!

I bet the wk of rest will do you some good and you will continue to push upward. I have no excuse on not doing table curls as I finally got that armwrestling table from Jacob Abbott so I can now do them. Keep it up buddy!

I seem to be in a rut. A slump, as we used to call it in the Army. I am working a lot of hours on my two jobs and around the home place. Energy levels are way down. I had a half-ass workout tonight as you can tell by the numbers and the volume. But things WILL get better. They always do!
