Jedd Johnson
Well, your wrist starts in ulnar deviation.....I guess you could either grip it and maintain the ulnar dev. or you could try and radially dev. against the bar. Maybe the wrist tries to go into radial dev., but it might only result in an isometric, but either way I need to try it. Excellent thinking, bro. I've gotta see how it feels. -Jedd-
deaner
I tried the v-bar myself, 18" of 1" galvenized pipe with the flange, and only got up to 125# without chalk, will see what I can do with chalk and fresh sometime when I am, but I will say it is an excellent test of strength if a little akward and painful. I must not be getting the technique because I was thinking I should be able to do a lot more. Maybe I'm just a little weaker than I thought.. Jedd Johnson
Not sure what difference the galvanized finish would make, Deaner, but ours isn't (Right Mikael/ Arne/ anyone?) or at least doesn't look like the galvanized finish I've seen before. Mikael told us, you have to load the sucker with chalk, so try that, deaner. -Jedd-
Jedd Johnson
I haven't tallied up the suggestions, but my choices would be 1. Plate Pinch: a. Two hand pinch for max or with bar thru middle to add weight b. One hand pinch for max trips around the waist. As many as you can with 25s or 35s or 45s. Any full trips with heavier pair of plates beats any number of trips with lighter plates. c. One hand pinch for max with bar thru middle to add weight 2. Grippers - Heaviest closed for reps if you can 3. One hand deadlift to hand above knee using Oly bar with knurling in middle. 4. Heaviest plate curl for reps with curling elbow on inside thigh like a concentration curl position. Any curl of a heavier plate beats any curl of a lighter plate. 5. Most 60's bent in X minutes, including wrap time. -Jedd- Edited September 26, 2004 by Jedd Johnson
CMunger
5. Most 60's bent in X minutes, including wrap time. If there's gonna be a bending aspect of the Grip bash, I REALLY like this one. I think 5 minutes would be plenty... Concentration plate curls could be a fun one. 2 hand pinch 1" galvanized pipe/conduit vbar Edited September 26, 2004 by CMunger
