This was the first time I ever tried a grade 5 reverse.  I've never really been a reverse bender, aside from some sporadic training leading up to comps, so I was kinda surprised to get any movement at all.

60 on the hub, that's pretty beast man. Grade 5 reverse must've been pretty tough

Thanks Neal!  Would love to hit 70 again and then possibly 75, but it’s always a matter of what to focus on in a very limited amount of time with training.  How is your bending going?  Are you going to be doing Don’s comp next year?

I decided to enter the Steel Shredders 4 competition, run by David Horne.  My wrist has been getting progressively better the past few weeks, which was the biggest "If-factor" stopping me from getting a solid bend in the past few months.  I don't know where I'm going to be at with this but know that I am not even close to 100% and definitely not feeling strong with the braced anymore.  (There was a short period earlier in the year when it started to feel pretty decent again, but I wasn't able to maintain that for too long.)

Anyway, it doesn't matter.  If I am physically able to get a bend in, I will definitely give this what I can.  The challenge for me, aside from fighting through the injuries, will be with the specific rules around the bends (wraps and pad), as I have not really bent like this ever.  And also the steel being used, as it is not standard HRS, and tough stock.  All of this combined has me trying some variations to my normal bending style, which is still a work-in-progress.

The competition is really starting to shape up with some big-time current benders, that should definitely make this interesting, and will be a lot of fun to watch!

A little disappointed missing the Hub, but just couldn't get the surface the way I wanted.  I knew it be a challenge when 57.5 started to slip a little.  Grippers felt pretty solid today.

Originally, I was going to go 295 x 5 on bench, but dropped to 285 for last set, due to just not feeling it today.  The first few reps with 285 were so weak, I decided to stop at 3 instead of trying to grind out 2 more, which might not have happened.

In training (or at least attempting to 🙄) for the Steel Shredders 4 comp, all of the braced bends I will be doing the next few weeks will be under the comp rules, which involve minimal padding and DHWOG suede.  Overall not too bad, but just trying to maintain consistency.

I was happy to get 10 reps with the 106 and 114 grippers.  The Master feels similar to the #2, but 10 reps was pretty close to max on both.  Crush strength seems to be coming back, and my wrist has been responding better lately to things I couldn't do too well a few weeks ago.

I was surprised to get the 37.5 Blob.  It's been hit-or-miss (mostly miss) with this the past 2 years and lately, all miss when I've made an attempt.  It's just crazy how much a difference getting just the right amount of chalk on the hands and surface makes.

My arms felt like they were going to explode on the last set of curls!  There was a period of 3-4 years I did not do any direct bicep work, when I was doing most of my competing in powerlifting.  I forgot how much fun it can be doing arms and getting that crazy pump!

Bench felt pretty good today.  I should have gotten the first attempt at 175 on overhead presses, but my shoulders were a little worn from the bench reps right before, and I lost it about midway up.  The reattempt was decently strong.

We had a bad ice storm a few days ago and our power has been out since Thursday night.  Today's squats were in the dark with a flashlight shining toward the power rack.
