FrankyBoy
After the decision to make a challenge against Ben on no-set closing the Grandmaster I found I like this type of challenges and I thought I could push other disciplines also by challenging other guys. So I asked my grip friends here on the board and everyone took his challenge. A challenge against a buddy doesn't need to be on the same event. Currently there are 6 challenges active: 1. Bencrush: GM no-set close 2. Florian Kellersmann: RT 70.0 kg (he) against 72.5kg (me) with our weaker left hands on my oiled RT. 3. Martin Kotte: RT 60kg left&right (he, oiled RT) against Blue Nail Bend 4. moser1972: Tetting SM cert (he) against vbar 145kg 5. heavy_weight: RB300 close (using a parallel set) 6. Burkhard Macht: Blob50 deadlift I'm considering challenging the german champ Thomas Becker in the Apollons Axle DO deadlift. Something like a 175kg DO deadlift would be nice. But this is not yet fixed but its a goal of me right now. So this would be the 7th challenge. 7. Thomas Becker: 175kg DO Deadlift on the Apollons Axle The challenge with Ben will be documented in our joined log Lets get Ready to Rumble. So I yet covered the disciplines: Pinch, Grippers (set and no-set), vbar, RT, Bending and possibly thick bar. Should be enough to get an all-around good grip strength. So lets see how I'll get through this. Damned ego. Edited November 13, 2004 by FrankyBoy

He'll buy an original Apollons Axle. Obviously he's taking this challenge very very serious. Ok, the games begin.

FrankyBoy
Party on! Bending Day, DU After my gym workout with a new PB on the incline bench press of 90kg (~200lbs) (New PB after my arm beak), I did some bending and some guys in the gym highly showed some interest. I bent: 1x6mmx180mm 1xYellow 1x7mmx210mm 1xBlue prekinked to 35 degrees 1xBlue prekinked to 29 degrees Then one of the guys wanted to try the nails too. He finished the Yellow Nail (whats pretty good on the first attempt) and could kink the 7 mm nail to about 20 degrees. I finished this nail quite easily afterwards. Then I gave him a blue and explained that this nail was (~) the easiest nail used in the last european championship (and that I'm qualified for the next ). He couldn't kink it. So I took it and told him thats this is my goal right now and that I never bent one before. Guess what happened? I fully bent it in about 20 secs. What a great feeling. Thanks to my friend Clay , who gave me the tip to work with prekinked nails. Next I will work with the 7.6mm nail and shorter 7mm nails. One of the best days this years. reubi
Hi Frank, congratulations to the IM blue. Remember, I told you it needs just a good day for you to bend it!!! Sadly, the gap between the blue and the red nail seems to be huge, not easy to find a new goal... Greetings Gerrit Party on! FrankyBoy
Thanks a lot Gerrit. Yeah, you were right. Btw I just ordered some stock from Eric, mainly 60Ds. They should be a next stepping stone from the blue. (You're interested?) Besides this I'll use shortened 7mm nails (180mm and shorter). Those should be harder than the IM Blue too. Then theres the 7.6mm nail... So much options.

FrankyBoy
Thanx Ben. Well theres a new challenge: maidenfan challenges me with Clay's Rolling Handle. My best so far is 132 lbs. Morgans best is 185lbs. Target is to improve ourselves by at least 15lbs. So the goals are 200# for him and 147# for me. Good luck Morgan. FrankyBoy
11-28-04 Pinch day, a good one Wooden Block 70mm Left 5x1x15kg 1x20kg 1x25kg 1x27.5kg (PR equalized) 0x30kg (~5") PR 0x30kg (0") Right 5x1x15kg 1x30kg 0x32.5kg (wtf?, wrong grip) 1x32.5kg 1x35kg super easy, obviously a good day 1x37.5kg (PR equalized) 1x38kg PR 3x0x38.5 kg (each one got some air but no full DL) I filmed those attempts and combined them into a single video: 3 Attempts on 38.5kg on a 70mm wooden PGB ~1.3MB Now the real good news: As you can see in the 3rd attempt the block slips out of the hand. Immediately I checked my inner thumb and of course I ripped it but only the upper skin so no problem at all. Then I had a look at the block and the block got ripped too. A splinter was cut out of one edge. Frank The Ripper.
