Wrist Problems

I just hurt my left wrist today doing cleans and I think it is a minor sprain. I have a strongman contest on sep 11 to do and I have already sent in my money so I will definatly compete. If I wear wrist wraps I can workout with very minimal pain. Should I take a break from working out to let it heal? Or push through until the contest? It is less than a month away and I really need to gain some more strength and get in more practice if I want to have a good showing. Would my strength go down more if I trained while injured? Or would it go down to much by not working out at all? Thanks for the input guys.

REST! Last March I messed up my wrist doing cleans and tried to train through it. I ended up having to take 3 months off from cleans, overhead presses, and all bending and sledge work. If I'd let it heal in the first place I probably would've been fine in a few weeks at the most. Take some time off from wrist work, and use one hand snatches and high pulls to train your pulling power while the wrist heals.

Rest it, apply heat and cold, stretch it, and use the wrist wraps.

I have no way of knowing the severity of your injury but I know that as a competitive Olympic lifter, keeping healthy wrists is a premium. You are better off taking the others advice in resting up since you don't want to keep injuring it or worse, turn it into something chronic that will give you problems for an extended period of time.

I was hoping everyone wouldnt say that I need to rest it, but I will take the advice because I know it is from some very experienced lifters. Its gonna be hard to not work out but I'll do my best and hopefully I will be in good shape for my contest. Thanks again for the advice guys.
