How do they contest those to avoid "cheating" the weight up? I have never seen one.

Got any videos or websites devoted to curl competitions.

Gosh, I hope you are talking about bicep curls andf not that game they play on ice.....

Yes, I am talking bicep curls. They do have strict curl competitions at some powerlifting competitions but there have not been any near me yet. I was hoping to enter one if any come close.

The United States Strict-Curl Ass. hosts contests often. I have competed in many. Other competitions can also be found in the Mid-west. As far as cheating goes, in some comps, some body movement is allowed. When you have that much weight swinging out in front of you, then a counter-balance movement is excepted in order to keep from falling over. They just do not want you to bend your knees to start the lift. That will be a foul.

The United States Strict-Curl Ass. requires that you stand against a wall with your head and shoulders against it. And the head and shoulders cannot leave the wall at anytime during the curl. Other comps are half-body weight for reps. I have done 20 with 107.5 pounds. My current 1-rep max. in a competition is 165 at a body-weight of 217.

I used to have the number to a guy named Kevin Maskew (I think that was his name). If you run a search on your search engine, you may find the United States Strict-curl Ass.

One more thing,

Milo used to cover the events, so if you have any back issues of Milo laying around you might find a number in there.
