Guest dnj23 Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 What about the muscles that open your hand from a clenched position? The only thing I can practically come up with is to stick your hand clenched in a bag of sand and fully open it for reps. With the myraid ways you guys train your hands, I am surprised that such a movement is not mentioned. Quote
chrisof4 Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 I believe they are called the extensors. Opening and closing in a bucket of sand is a good way to work these. Also use elastic bands. You can also take a wide mouth jar, put your fingers inside, open them, and lift the jar using the back of your fingers. Add weight to make this more difficult. I know there are more, but I can't think of them right now. Keep grippin! Quote Chris Phillips Kansas City, MO 2006 goals: Grade 5 and grade 8 bolt, 600lb power lift series. odin Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 (edited) Welcome, you will learn much about grip here. Sand & other types of extensor training are mentioned repeatedly in here; you will see this as you use the search function and read old posts. Also, reading John Brookfield's books is considered an assumed prerequisite to any info posted here, and he discusses sand grabs & extensions in his books. Here is a link to a related thread that has been going on over the last few days: http://www.cyberpump.com/gripboard/index.php?showtopic=7871 Edited March 28, 2004 by odin Quote Spoiler Bob Sundin 5'11 and 162 lbs. https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC7AZdUkf0aEDB3ET4UhU3Bg/videos
