So I've been hitting the plyometrics in order to increase my vertical jump.

What I'm wondering is if I can work some cardio training (treadmill, crosstrainer, bike, etc) within the same time period as my plyo training. I don't work both in the same day, just within a day or two of each other. Will my plyometrics training suffer? Any experiences? Thanks.

Yes, it should not be a problem as you are training two different aspects of overall fitness. With plyometrics in general you have to watch overtraining and overuse type situations.

on the cardio, keep your intensity low, switch exercises every workout. Even swim too.

Just out of curiousity, what plyometric excercises are you doing?

I always warm up for plyos with some sprints. Need to get the body temp up as 220 pound plyos are hard on the system! Easy way to get injured.

Do cardio on off days and you should have no problems at all. Sometimes I will even do 15-20 minutes of sprints, then follow it with plyos.

Noever had any issues with it.
