stingray
I just did 30 sets of singles with my #1 and im pooped. Is this too much? I did negatives yesterday with my #3 for 5 sets and i decided to do it because KTA has high volume 6 days a week. I dont have the KTA program yet and i will get is soon, but until then was this too much for today?
SqeezeMasterFlash
I'd say that's a bit high. I've never done more that 10 sets in a day, but I'm not a COC so someone else may contradict me.
Bill Piche
Depends on your strength level in closing the #1.
stingray
well, i did all 30 sets and they were pretty easy, i just started to get tired!
patrick
If they were pretty easy I wouldn't say its too much. Try to go more by how you feel then what people say.
dannyboy
yea it depends what the #1 is like for you. actualy even if #1 is a joke thats kind of alot/waste of time
stingray
yea, for some reason i can destroy my #1 but i can close my #2 for 2 sets, maybe 3 with my right hand, and with my left im about 3 pennys thickness away.
Sybersnott
Do more work with your #2. Your #1 is too easy for you - use that gripper for a brief warm-up.
The Mac
I like doing lots of reps/sets on an (easy-ish) gripper. It's fun!! I wouldn't imagine the extra conditioning would hurt your hand in preparation for KTA
dmorse
Howdy Stingray; While I'm new to the board I have significant experience in exercise science and the modality of progression. If you can do 30 sets of ANYTHING your putting yourself at risk of an overtraining injury more than getting anything out of it. Like suggested above, use for warm up then move on to a tougher gripper. By constantly pumping any muscle for that long your tendons start to abraid due to the extremes of friction. mooinabc1
30 sets try out is good for the test once in a while but it is better to warm up 5 reps with #1 and do rest pause in every 5 mimutes or every 1 minute and do as many as you can. This way you are doing max rest and max recovery. Doing all out reps is not going to get you max strength for the gripper strength. For example:1 rep=rest 5 mins,1rep=rest 5mins,1rep 5 mins, etc. to gone as many as possible this way it is possible to do 24 reps in 2 hours. that the frist week. week two do every 4 minutes, third week evry 3 mins, 4th week 2 mins, 5th week do 1 mins as many as possible in one hour. Have fun!
