So it does appear that there are at least two versions of the GHP set block, one with black caps (possibly later version) and one with no caps but a hole through the metal with a blue string running through. Gen 1 and gen 2, if you will. . . .

Just watched a bunch of GHP certification videos from GHP's YouTube channel. It appears there are 3 versions: - Original, no caps or holes (1st) - Hole in left side for blue string (2nd) - Black caps on both ends (3rd)

The string block also just looks longer by eyeballing it. Maybe the original blocks used more length of material and part of the attempt to cut costs was to make shorter blocks. I know my block very well and it's definitely much shorter and stockier looking

The v1 and v2 both appear to be longer blocks, and the v3 that comes with the black caps is a shorter block. Based on GHP cert videos, it appears that the v3 black caps block materialized sometime in late 2020/early 2021 - around the same time that 2nd Gen GHP grippers appeared also, I believe. Which lines up with the overall move to cut costs from GHP.

degradated Posted yesterday at 08:52 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 08:52 AM Got some more grippers and had them rated by Matt @Cannon - stoked! Now all of the GHP tags match the handles, hehe I'm a nerd like that. It's great having my grippers RGC rated now. Instead of playing guesswork, I know exactly what I can close and what I cannot. Matt is super cool, looking forward to doing more business with him... I also picked up a left turn #2, which happened to be rated exactly the same as my regular COC 2 at 103 lbs ... Pretty cool!

I have two 4s now actually, one RGC 85 (off the charts low) and one 95 which is on the higher side. It's nice to have a wide spread of ratings for training. I'm working on getting dupes of them all if possible (so far I've got an extra 2, 4, 5 and 8, soon to get another 6). Not trying to hoard them all, I just love to collect if I come across the right deal. Edited yesterday at 10:27 AM by degradated
