Brad Arnold
Ok I am very much a green horn not even a yr has passed since I first started using grippers and I have already developed a problem concerning my shoulder, neck and jaw thats causing terrible headaches and it all started when I started gripping. To combat this I have started to do neck exercises, a 10 minute routine that includes moving my head repetitively in different ways. I follow it up with shoulder corrective movements then finish with an iron out on the roller. I also use the massage gun here and there. It makes sense these muscles would be involved given they are all linked from my spine to my hand I just don’t know why I’m having this problem. I’ve found the only way so far to avoid all these headaches is to apply all these therapeutic exercises to keep on top of it and even then it’s difficult. I do not like to take any prescriptions or headache pills as it doesn’t fix the problem anyway. Is there anyone else who has or had this problem and could share how they got around it or avoid it. Professional massage therapy is not going to be an option here, they cost a fortune. I prefer preventative so is there a way to prevent this? Or is this something so as long as I am gripping I will further intrench the problem. Is this common or am I doing something wrong? Blacksmith513
If I go through a phase where i'm really stressed out I get tension headaches.. But I never have gotten a headache from working out unless I hit my head. You may have TMJ? Are you constantly clenching your jaw without realizing. Give yoga/stretching a go. But maybe should see a Dr.
slazbob
Maybe a mouthPiece would be helpful. try different heights of gripping; setting it high by your shoulder and closing from there…or maybe a straight arm by your side closing from a low angle.
