Jedd Johnson
I stand corrected then. It is a good point that a momentary contact against a fixed point would yield assistance. I still don't think that a brush of clothing should cause disqualification, though. It seems a bit far fetched for me. Like I said, if his arms touched anything, it was the material of his shorts hanging off his legs, which aren't fixed, and won't give assistance, in my opinion. I am sure once I have bent as much stuff as you have, Terminator, I will know better when to pick my battles. I must still say though that I saw no contact on smitty's leg when I was standing right there, nor did I see any when I just watched the video again. Respectfully, Jedd

Jedd Johnson
Glad you enjoy them. We try to mix it up a little. I believe expansion is in order though.
terminator
Jedd, Cool. It was Rick's contest and his rules and what he says is good is good. I think Steve was offering his experiences and opinion on what he believes constitutes a truly strict short bend. I don't think he was trying to demean or diminish anyone at all. Smitty's a cool guy, and if he sticks with it will be one hell of a bender.

Rick Walker
The bend looked good to me in person. When discussing the rules per-contest, I told everyone that no bracing was allowed-but when they were finishing the nail, they DID NOT have to have their arms out in front of them, but could, in fact, have them against their chests for the final squeeze. Smitty's arms went inside his legs-and like Jedd has pointed out, if they made any contact, it would have been with his shorts only-if at all. Good bend, and good eye by all who viewed the tape.
