Body was not as sore as I would think. 30 minutes on exercise bike 5x10 yates rows 5x10 bent over DB rows 5x10 EZ curl bar curls close grip 6 rounds on the heavy bag boxing No word yet in 3 gripper came in yet... Kinda on a personal note, been feeling down in the dumps lately. I think it's a mix of work, personal, & lifting. This weekend is 2 events. Long Island Highland Games & charity strongman event at Savage City Strength. I was gonna compete in both, dubbed the weekend of strength. In reality, I went over my head in training. Pushed too much. Tendons aren't healed from arm wrestling. Also, my lower back been bugging me. Well, trying to fix that in changing my diet. Watching what I eat. Then, I got asked to be head judge, so maybe that was my inspiration for my workout this afternoon... Saw a 910 frame deadlift which was awesome!!! Again, trying to lose weight, even though I did have pizza & beer at that party I went to. It did freak my system out. Fuelled on 4 whole eggs & an apple. 30 minutes on exercise bike Tried 5 minutes of jump rope *been awhile & I hate jump rope* 2x25 sledgehammer chops on tire *I got a agility ladder last weekend... But, forgot again to get sand for sandbag I got in the basement* Circuit 4 rounds all kettlebells 5 reps High knees through ladder Right hand clean & press High knees Right hand snatch High knees Left hand clean & press High knees Left hand snatch *tried side to side on ladder, right ankle was bugging me, always been a problem... I did something like this when I was supposed to do a charity boxing match back in 2015* 3 rounds circuit 5 reps each Tire flips Overhead keg toss Tire flips again *was draining!* *This basically drained the gas tank, but fun* Tried 2 caber tosses, but just lawn darted in the wet ground Again just for fun Finished with walks One with KBs bottoms up hold around 100 ft One dragging chains around 200 yards Thought about hitting the heavy bag... too gassed out... Changing it up again this week... Was sore from yesterday, but nothing painful. 30 minutes on exercise bike Lower Body Conditioning Day 5 rounds 5 reps each Wide stance squats & more of a Romanian deadlifts *very little rest in between movements. This was continuous bouncing back & forth* Did some light grip training each hand 3x10 pinch block 3x10 wrist wrench deadlifts 5 sledgehammer finger walks *wrists were sore, didn't want to push it... Was using my hands a lot at work today* 30 minutes on exercise bike again Upper body tomorrow, probably no grip training... Maybe, punch the heavy bag for a few rounds... Night shift manager got hurt at my job... There could be a chance, I work late. If that, I won't train. Could be a delay in posts... Probably, why my lower back & right ankle were bothering me today... 30 minutes on exercise bike Upper Body Conditioning Day 5x5 continuous little rest in between movements Strict press full lock out & reverse grip bench press *Reverse grip bench is less demanding on my elbows & shoulders. Felt a little bit on right tendon* 5 rounds on the heavy bag boxing *went from power in the beginning to speed at the end* 30 minutes on exercise bike again *I'm in a conditioning & weight loss mode... Hopefully, get around 280... Tired of being over 300 lbs... Also, nutrition changed to more low carb... I don't know why, but sometimes I feel more stronger on more vegetables & essential fats* Side note: Listening to This Week In Grip today with Jedd, Allen, & special guest Ricardo Magni. They were talking about the King Kong for this year. Looking at it, trying to defend the 120+ kilo class title this year will be tough! Starting to 2nd guess this contest or just playing mind games with me early. Well, thinking about getting serious for the contest in around 8 weeks out... Maybe, I should??? Slow day at work... 30 minutes on exercise bike 5x5 continuous Squats & deadlifts same as Monday *tried to complete it faster than Monday* Grip work 5x3 wrist wrench deadlifts 75 lbs both hands In between those did 1 rep of 2 35s plate pinch with 5 second hold 3x10 rolling thunder deadlifts 145 lbs both hands *right felt like a tank, left not so much.* 5 sledgehammer finger walks each hand It was for fun... 30 minutes on exercise bike again Well, either I do the contest or not, I'm training for International King Kong Challenge in October. I'm not gonna worry about the 3 certification until I hear from the referee... Also, getting into a boxing & kickboxing mood, been watching videos on YouTube... Also, a little bit of grip stuff... Decided to stop... I actually dislike v-bar, even though it's one of my best events, I saw 2 guys tear their bicep in a 6 day span... 5x10 globe deadlifts 80 lbs both hand 1x5 80 lbs IM hub key pinch *1st set went well, but couldn't pick it up for set 2. Went down* 4x5 55 lbs instead Superset 3x10 Arm wrestling rotation movement & wrist wrench curls 5 sledgehammer finger walks 30 minutes on exercise bike again ... Don't know about weather tomorrow morning... I do want to train outside... A different friend messaged me about training tomorrow... Tire flips 5 reps, overhead keg toss 5 reps, tire deadlifts 5 reps, arm over arm small tire pull only once... Did boxing with him... He did some KB goblet squats & clean & press. Also, tire flips before he suggest pulling my car arm over arm Both of us did a superset of Bulgarian bag spins & sledgehammer chops on the tire... didn't remember his rep range... I did 25 reps each Today did some mitt work with my friend in boxing... Well, I gotta burn off a lot of wings I ate last night... Did some bench press... Been awhile 5x5 315 lbs 3x10 275 lbs 2x25 225 lbs DB suitcase rows 2x20 Resistance band rows 1x50 COC trainer parallel set each hand 1x50 Wings energy died down after bench... That's what I'm calling it for the time being... 30 minutes on exercise bike 5x5 continuously Overhead Press & reverse grip bench press *light weight* 1x50 band pull apart 1x50 resistance band rows 30 minutes on exercise bike again *thought about hitting the heavy bag tonight, but need WD-40 on the elbows & shoulders. Just sore, not injured. Since, it's gonna be raining & most likely miserable weather tomorrow. My girlfriend suggests going to one of our favorite restaurants tomorrow night...my reply was HELL YEAH!!! May get a big ass steak or rack of ribs... Looks like next weekend, make the attempt!... after the bike, did one attempt of CCS close with the 3, crushed it!!! Feel good!* Tomorrow upper body, maybe hit the heavy bag! Tried to schedule something with the referee, but never getting back to me, so I'm tired of it!... It is what it is... Starting to not have fun grip training... Kinda like last year before the king kong, entering highland games... Just got back into MMA training last night, was really a great time for me... Still in a conditioning mode, feeling good even though I'm still around 300 lbs... Weight ain't the issue... Did 2 MMA classes on Thursday... Still lifting more of a mix of powerlifting & Olympic lifting... Only lifting 2 or 3 days a week... But, kinda changed it up... Was breathing heavy after this set... Again, been in my conditioning mode still... I feel good these days physically Did try something grip related... Tearing a deck of cards with credit card in the middle... was a pain Little bit of grip training been good rehab for my hands from mma training... just light stuff... I feel like I should post something that's been on my mind for awhile... I know, I hyped up going for the COC 3 certification last few months... Well, I NEVER MADE THE ATTEMPT!!!... The referee never really replied... For example, was supposed to do this on a Wednesday night. I would have to drive an hour to him, but at the time, didn't for driving, just want to crush the 3. I text the guy asking if it was still on... He never replied til 3 days later... That was one of the 3 set ups. He told me we will get this done... I didn't text him back... Recently, he messaged me asking if I was still interested. I said I'm still interested, also mentioned "if it happens it happens if it doesn't it doesn't"... & I got an "ok" response... Honestly, don't care anymore, certifications would be nice, but if it's a pain in the ass, then why should I bother? COC 3 certification was a goal of mine for awhile now. The GHP Challenge was a spur of the moment idea I had that day... Right now, I'm taking a break for grip & grip sport!... So, I won't be competing at the King Kong this year... Maybe, I might change my mind if Jedd Johnson runs a February event... I always liked his events, & I missed this year, which I do have regret... Also, my days in arm wrestling is basically done as well... Too many problems & injuries this year, which messed with my mindset... Hopefully, one day, I WILL BE BACK!!!... Til Then... I’m still finding it tough to train grip. Probably haven’t in 2-3 weeks. These days been feeling "meh" grip training became a chore... Just to add to my I guess so called rant... Main reason, I've been on my conditioning mode, my father who is around 400 lbs, just had gastro bypass surgery. Besides, fear from what doctors said, he told me he was tired of being fat.
