major josh travis
Major Josh Travis III here. Spent a lifetime training. Only really did 2 and a half years of specific grip training which ended at thanksgiving season 2010 with me on the #2 captains of crush for 3 clean consecutive reps. I had bought the #2.5 but it seemed a very long way off considering it took me 2 and a half years to progress from #T to being comfortable on #2. In that time my pinch also improved to where I could comfortable hold 2 x 24lb Nautilus plates for 15-20 seconds either hand. After that family, ill health, 2 hernia operations and a change of career took over. Sure I gripped perhaps once every 6 weeks or longer or maybe id do a solid week here and there but with little focus, or motivation or drive to improve but rather wanting to maintain..........after a year or so I lost the #2 I was just leaving too long between workouts and had a little carpal in my hands anyway.....fast fwd 6 years and I can barely close the #1.5 (altho I never failed to). Two weeks ago I found some old iron mind catalogues and decided I would try this again......treat it with the respect it deserves. I got my old gripper (S & T for warm up and 1.5, 2 and 2.5) and also purchased a #1 The first workout I strugged to do #1.5 once on the right . 3 days later I did #1.5 x 2,,,,,,,,,,,two weeks later I did it 6 times this morning. I am doing 15 reps on S and T to warm up and than am doing 10 reps on the #1 and going for a set of as many as I can on 1.5 followed by one set of 5 x forced closes on #2 Am also using the expand a hand bands and warming my hands up on the fan before exertion My nutrition is good and I am leaving 3 days between workouts I will continue with this programme and provide a 3 month update. Any advice on if my workout should be higher or less is appreciated
