Rick Walker
We head to Erie Friday for afternoon weigh ins. He will be between 94 and 95 pounds. Worked opening squats and bench presses today, he smoked an easy 155 squat (11 pounds over his current state record) and an easy 95 pound bench (5 pounds over the current record). Deadlift work will be Wednesday. I expect him to hit somewhere around 230 putting him 25 pounds over his current record. Wish this young man luck as he prepares for battle and to set his records high!!
Chops
This seems like no "young man", tell him this... Every man has his moment in the sun. If he has this much passion and concentration as a boy.......his moment may never end. That's quite a son you have.
Rick Walker
He looked me in the eye tonight and said without hesitation that he will play in the NFL one day. I know that sounds crazy and everyone hopes their kid will be a pro athlete, but the passion in his eyes when he said it, it was something I have never seen before. At that moment I realized he is far beyond his age in wisdom, and this wisdom has been earned in the dungeon under the bar. He wants it so bad he eats, sleeps, and breathes his training. I never have to tell him it is time to train, even at 5 am he is up before me getting ready to go. His work ethic is second to none. I can stick him on the treadmill at 8 mph and walk away and he will go for miles before I realize I left him down there. Never complains, never quits. He truly is something special and he teaches me every single day about living life and chasing my own dreams.

Rick Walker
Weighed in at 95.8 lbs. Had him ride the whole way to Erie in a garbage bag and several layers with heat on full. Now he is chugging Powerade Zero and eating a 16" sub. Go time tomorrow!!

Rick Walker
Thanks guys! He got a lot of praise from all the other competitors and judges. He was one of the few to go 9 for 9...I told him I have never even gone 9 for 9!!! He also got to witness some piss poor behavior as well. 1 kid bombed out in the bench and threw his belt and was punching walls looking like an ass. Another 308r hitched a 600 deadlift and dropped it from knee height and got reds. He stormed off and kicked the chalk bucket across the gym and punched the wall earning himself an automatic DQ. Whoever is raising these kids needs a lesson in parenting 101. Learn how to lose with dignity. Casey would lift, high five or hug me, and go back to his seat right by his mom and siblings. No show boating, no acting crazy, just lifting. I am a proud father!
