Stephen Ruby
First time I have had a chance to see this video. One of the best of all time. I also love how strict the old school powerlifters lifted also no fancy wraps or monolifts and no question all the lifts were done perfectly.

I lifted at the Chattanooga open in 1975 and 1976 and Don R squatted a then world record 914lbs.Wow.Before I saw him in the warm-up room squatting 600lbs as if it were 225lbs.A piece of cake for him !
hellswindstaff
I remember reading that he exclusively trained with progressive movement training. Could be wrong though.
Bill Piche
Frankly, I did not think the bench was that strict with the sinking. Larry Pacifico did the same. Big sink and it was "riding" into the chest at the time of the clap.
EricMilfeld
Frankly, I did not think the bench was that strict with the sinking. Larry Pacifico did the same. Big sink and it was "riding" into the chest at the time of the clap. I saw that, too. Also, as it's been said before in some publications, his 850 pull was hitched (supported on thighs). In general, judging wasn't as strict on that aspect of the lift during that time frame. It quickly changed to the current standards, though. And I'm not taking anything away from Don's spectacular performance.
