Doing 5x5 Style Strength Training Followed By Intense Treadmill Workou

Is it counterproductive to do some heavy strength training such as 5x5 on deads and other heavy back work and then go up and do a very intense 20 min hill workout on the treadmill?? I always figured since the treadmill work was so intense and short it wouldn't hurt me but now I'm starting to wonder.

i workout with weights three days a week. and in the evening i go and ride stationary bike. 1 minute intervals. 5 sets. i put the thing on hard. as hard as i can. rest a mlinute. not only is it building mylegs up, but sure makes me breath hard. like i just sprinted 400 metres.
