Believe it or not, the KTA program premise is based on what has been observed by the Bulgarians in their results. And, the "blacksmith" principle as I call it. The saddest thing is that we don't have any olympic weightlifters,powerlifters(maybe me and my cousin, but we are still to weak) or strength athletes(maybe couple of armwrestlers).
