The Squat- Overrated?

One thing I do believe is for leg development (size) you don't have to squat a ton. It's more about workload and reps. How much an athlete squats is not a great or direct indication of the power output they might generate in their particular sport. Max squat that is. No athlete should really be maxing anyway and risking injury that takes them off the field. Plus, the structure takes a lot in their sport. No need to put the same on the spine, etc. in the weight room.

Just some observations to throw out there...
