Guest Mikael Siversson
Mikael-What was your training like that helped you achieve your current level of crushing strength? I think you mentioned daily training like Wanna's kta program. I am currently using a similar system of Wanna's. Daily training seems to be really catching on we just have to realize the hands are different then the rest of the body. I achieved a 500 bench with 1 heavy workout a week and my gripper progress would go nowhere with this type of approach. but I have also seem some good progress following a 2xwk approach while training for a RT contest after some advice from 3crusher. Good luck against David. A 500 lbs bench, that is amazing. I do grippers six days a week. One day I do strapholds and the other five I go all out, with up to 15 singles attempts (including warm ups). All other grip training I do twice a week or less.
HAMMERHEAD
6 out of 7 days semi high volume! Your hands must recover quickly. -HH
Guest Mikael Siversson
Yes they, do. This is the main reason I believe I do have a slim chanche of closing a #4 in a few years time. I am no genetic freak, but my hands can take a lot of punishment and still feel fairly fresh the day after.
OldGuy
My best with the #4 has been 1/2'' from closing. This sounds good but I feel it is light years away from a full close.
Guest Mikael Siversson
Being close is 2 mm or less IMO. I have a long way to go but at least I am not scared of it.
OldGuy
So far I have only used a 4 as part of the KTA training. I have not yet decided to go all out and train to close it. The #4 is the only gripper where I can reach a sticking point, and then somehow squeeze even harder and close it some more. With the other grippers once I get stuck, it's all over.
