Pete Zaria
I'm looking at starting some plyometric training and have managed to find some decent exercises on the internet but not a lot on actual routines. All I'm really looking for is general guidelines including recommended sets/reps and rest periods. My regular training is getting stale and I thought I'd change it up, I'm sure you've all been there. John Beatty
Off the subject a bit, but my wife was taking a boot camp class at her gym, and they had a plyo station, she said some of the women couldn't make it onto the 12" box. I showed some surprise, then proceeded to demonstrate a jump onto our kitchen counter, which is a bit above my belt. She was a bit surprised that my aging, hefty self could do that, cold & at 42 yrs of age. The things we'll do to impress our women, eh? Pete Zaria
Thanks for the link. I have a decent level of athleticism and am pretty sure I'm at a low risk of getting injured. The things we'll do to impress our women, eh? You ain't kidding.
Bearcat 74
We use quite a bit of plyos with the football team. I have middle school kids that can't jump onto a 12" box. I could not believe that a 13-14yr old kid could not get their feet 12" off the friggin' ground. Then on the other side of the coin I have 2 that can get onto a 42" box from flat footed to top of box for a set of 5.

My box jump PR is 50"
Bearcat 74
50" is a heck of a jump, we only have a 42" box. I have had other middle school kids get it with a step but this is the first year I have ever had a kid get it flat footed.

He's got a 58" box squat jump: And a 63" running box jump:
