pburke23
How do you guys make your own blobs? I keep seeing people say that, but not sure how...
Scott Styles
http://www.gripfaq.com/Thumb_Strength_Exer...s/Block-Weight/ - A blob is just a special type of block weight - the end of an old york 100lb dumbell.

Why does it have to be york? Won't any Hex dumbell work?
jwils
A hex will work to produce a block weight, which can do wonders for developing your hand strength but an old style York produces a whole different world of implement due to the rounded edges. A York blob is much more difficult to lift than the hex variety.
Scott Styles
Any wide weight will work for training. Blobs just tend to be harder for a given weight.
vikingsrule92
Any wide weight will work for training. Blobs just tend to be harder for a given weight. A "Blob" is a specific term referring to only the ends of a York Dumbbell, while a Hex Block works in the same way and towards the same goal it is not referred to as a Blob. How similar would something like http://www6.mailordercentral.com/ironmind/...asp?number=1248 ironminds pinch grip block be to training with hex block weights? I'm on a budget and trying to find a good way, If i can do this with the loading pin and change weight whenever i want rather than buy a bunch of hex block weights it would be much more cost effective... Adam Moyers
That will help build your pinch strength, but if your goal is to lift a 50lb Blob you will be best served training with Blobs.
mattvod
This is similiar to the one on ironmind except a good deal cheaper. http://www.fatbastardbarbellco.com/ECONOMYPINCH.html

jad
Dave made these out of PVC but by the time you fill them with enough lead shot, they still won't be all that cheap and I've never been able to find the caps. http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?autocom...=si&img=
Scott Styles
You can put an eye bolt in a hunk of wood if you want a pinch block. As far as loadable pinch devices go, I like this one: http://www.fatbastardbarbellco.com/BIGSQUEEZE.html The rounded edges don't split your skin. You can do narrow or wide pinch with it. pburke23
This is similiar to the one on ironmind except a good deal cheaper.http://www.fatbastardbarbellco.com/ECONOMYPINCH.html So I'm going to order the Economy pinch, and the crusher, the rotating DB handle to simulate the rolling thunder.. 2 more questions though... 1) What size handle is the closest? from 2" to 3". and 2) Do they offer a loading pin for both of these that fits them both? What size handle is closest to what? What are you referring to the Rolling Thunder? Any standard loading pin will fit pretty much anything, and FBBC sells a loading pin called the Loading Pin/Finger Lift on the products page. mattvod
I'm guessing you mean what's closest to the RT? I think that the RT is just under 2.5inch... I'm not 100% sure though but you really can't go wrong with a 2.5 inch grip... It's a lot harder than the 2 and not as limiting as the 3... You load the weights on with a caribiner and loading pin so once you get one of those, you'll be able to use it on the Rolling Thunder, the Crusher, any of the homemade ones... plus also pinch blocks, hub lift devices, and a whole slew of other stuff... even dip belts.... It's definitely a wise purchase. http://fatbastardbarbellco.com/LOADINGPIN.html Moderator edit
