Olympic Lifts? Strength Standards And Goals?

I was talking to somebody about Olympic lifting, which I have never done and I was just curious what are the "strength standards" for the various lifts. I'll say the two "real lifts" snatch and clean and jerk, but also add Power clean, OH squat, and any others that you guys know of.

What I mean is that for powerlifting there are various levels which are considered elite or very good. What are the comparable weights for the o-lifts?

Bench = 1.5 BW

DL = 2x BW or 3x BW

Squat = 2x BW

Press = BW press

or the 300 bench, 400 squat, 500 dead is a standard that is considered a very good total.

Thanks.

A 400 pound C&J is considered "excellent" for the heavier weight classes, unless one shifts the standards to that of international lifting. For all standards below that, I think that number is about right.

Here's the results from last years Arnold Classic American Nationals meet - it might give you an example of what's being done right now by weight class - you might also look up the American records - then world records. The site http://www.lifttilyadie.com has results from many contests - you should be able to get an idea of what lifts are necessary to place for example at the local, state, national, world levels with some Google work. Remember Olympic lifting results are always in kilos.

A standard that any good lifter, myself included, would strive to achieve would be a 1.5 bw Snatch and double bodyweight Clean and Jerk. Anything over that is elite 1 would think.
