Standards Of Grip Strength?

Recommended Posts

I've gotten a lot farther in my grip training lately and was wondering what I should actually be shooting for. I got into grip for help with jiu-jitsu and it was a load of fun, but now i'm serious with it. So I'm hoping you guys can help me fill in some missing spots. (Remember these are the standard, not the pinnacle)

Crush-#3

Short bending-Red nail

Pinch-2 45s (one hand right?)

Levering-don't know what a good standard would be

Ripping/Tearing-Full deck of cards and what, a 2 inch phonebook?

Hub pinch-45 pounder

One hand thick bar-Inch dumbell

What are some more? Like what should I shoot for, for the euro pinch and whatever else I missed.

I'd say a good list of attainable goals would be

#3 close

Plate Curl 25+5lbs

Bend a Grade 8

Lever 10lb hammer

Pinch 2 35's

TNS of a BBSM

2 45's is bit too high IMHO, as the list here is pretty short. Hubbing a 45 is pretty elite too, BUT it depends on the hub. The inch is also an elite lift, I'd say a 180 Rolling thunder is a good goal.

My list of attainable goals.

Grippers:

Either inverted #2, NS #2, or MMS #3

Wrists

Lever 12 Pound sledge (31" from bottom of head to handle)

Plate wristcurl a 25 pound plate for ten strict reps

Pinch

Two 35's

42.5# Blob

Bending, yes, I put this seperate from wrists

A solid 60d, or a 6x1/4" Grade 5, not sure which to choose. I think 60d is definetely in reach, but a Grade 5 is a better goal...

I don't know of any good thick bar goals, just train with them and get stronger.

And are those 2 35s pinches with one hand, or two like a euro pinch?

Also, thanks for the help so far, this is great.

One hand. There (to me) is less technique involved in a one hand pinch than a two-hand pinch.
