I used the teflon spray grease on a few grippers. It works well. - No rust, and smooth.

I use both WD-40 and also 3 in 1 penetrating oil. I like to use the 3 in one since it comes in a dripper applicator type can..it is also better at preventing and eliminating rust.

Teflon could work too..never tried it.

I always just use the 3-in-1, cause it's right there and easy to put on. I guess anything would work though: teflon, WD-40, Crisco, K-Y.....

WD-40 is a penetrating oil - just get an old toothbrush and dab some on the brush and work it over, under and through the coil of the gripper. :)
