Hi everyone.

This is my first post on this great forum ;)

I'm a total newbie on grip training... I just recently bought a #1 and #2 CoC grippers and haven't even closed #1 yet. I'm about half an inch away from closing it...

So, can any of you guys tell me HOW TO CLOSE THIS DAMN THING? :calm heheh...

I'd appriciate any pointers any of you masters of mashing could give.

Here is a great thread from the fAQ forum for people starting out in grip.good starter workout for grip David is one of the whos who in grip. He knows his stuff. As far a setting the gripper and closing it I think KTA has a great video of how to do this. Maybe one of the gripper guys could tell you better than me. I hope this helps. :D

Follow the advice above till your used to gripping for awhile. If you want to be a gripper specialist...at least at the start...I would jump into KTA or Gregg/Morton High Volume for some serious specialization.

Do make sure you have been doing grippers for awhile first they are both brutal programs that require some pre-conditioning.

When I started I jumped into KTA after about a few weeks and in about 3.5 months I could close the 3, when I started I could only close the one.

Be sure to use contrast baths and to do extensor work to help avoid injury.

Good Luck!!

I'm going to check out the KTA program. I'm getting hooked to grip training and a KTA seems to be a workable strategy to development according to http://www.cyberpump.com/ktaprogram/

i would be careful about jumping into one of these high intensity programs so quickly. imo, i would wait just a little bit until you develop a good foundation of hand muscle and tendon strength. i had jumped into KTA too quickly, i think, and ended up with numerous injuries while doing it...all because i had severe inbalances in my hands. i did finish the program, injured. yes, it did give me gains. yes it did help me. yes i would recommend it for you in the future. but looking back, i should have waited a good month or so of training, getting my muscles and tendons used to the new workload and skin toughened up. just be careful with it, and listen to your body first and foremost. good luck.

If you have the cash buy a COC Trainer!

I have the CoC T and 1. The T will help you make that close plus actually closing a gripper is a hell of a lot more fun than constantly almost closing one. I also recommend finger curls for gripper help.

Being a fellow newbie I also recommend the newbie program above and am playing it out in my Blog (sorry for the shamless plug guys). I have purchased the KTA program and wouldn't recommend it for anyone with less than 6 months or even a year in gripping. At the same time, is crushing CoCs is your goal, buy it now and learn it and love it. There are a lot great setup and prep techniques in there as well.

Best of luck

Even more advice... Thanks! :cool

By the way, I checked out the KTA program and it seems hardcore. I believe a Trainer gripper would help get ready to start doing KTA. I now understand that I should get my hands used to grip training before following any programs as tough as KTA. This calls for a lighter gripper...

The Trainer also works for warmup and I guess those really insane mash monster can use it too as a general conditioner. I heard that doing very light reps (at least not too much of them) helps to recover a bit quicker and so.
