Closing The Coc #3

king crusher

Recommended Posts

im starting a little log.

i wont post in it with any sort of consistancy because thats the nature of my "training style"

i grip very irregularly.

i dont use chalk or other cheats.

i dont set the gripper,

unless im doing a two finger close.

i belive alot of people would benifit from my style of training.

i belive alot of people grosely overtrain and hurt themselves.

alot of people dont think reps are benificial to max attepts.

i think otherwise.

this log is not a quest for closing the coc3....i have already closed it.

this is just somewhere to update my personal records.

the reason i feel this is a good training method is this....

i go one two sometimes three weeks between touching a gripper.

my training has no ryme or reason.

i do what i feel at that time.

i dont really do a grip workout.

i just kind of "play" around.

now i feel i have better then avg grip ability...so this nocholant approch might not work for everyone.

but if you closed your coc2 the first time you tried it i think it will work for you.

when im around other grip "toys" i love to work with them.

i have done 203lbs on the rolling thunder to lockout.

i have done 235 on vbar.

i have wrist rolled around 225 up to sholder height from the ground.

i have tried the inch bell' on one occation...got one end well off the ground and made the other end very light and wobbly...but dident quite get it

that was my only try.

did a "light" 140 lb inch replica easily to lockout in both hands.

all of those things were on one day.

so i feel none of them would stand as pr if i did each one alone for awhile.

i have also ripped a 900 page phonebook and a deck of cards.

ive rolled a cheap(thin) frying pan.

and levered a 12lb sledge from right near the end to my nose.

i have put these things in here to give crediblity to my log.

as some doubted some of my claims.

i will post things in here when i do something that is an improvement over the last.

pr so far....

51 reps on coc2....opened to 3/4 each time.

25 fully open reps on coc2

t.n.s. coc2 and hg250 with four and three fingers.

closed coc2 with two fingers and a small set.

closed the coc3 fully on about 10 occations.

one day i did five within an hour or so...freak day???

no set on those.

so thats the opening of this log and some info on my feats.

more to come............

Isn't that still cheating if you set it closing it with two fingers?

I do. Almost all of my training is done with reps. I am curious as to how many you can get with a Super Master.

i dont set the gripper,

Um ,I think your barkin up the wrong tree by calling these "cheats". You may be indeed strong, i don't know, but calling what others do in comparison to what you do is subjective when it comes to hands strength and to call it cheating is in poor taste. IMO

Stating all these 'feats' asks for proof, which is a video or picture. At least, i would like to see a vid of a #3, since you have done that so easily and nonchalant :happy

I second that

Do you wash your hands or use alcohol to clean before gripping?

im looking for the puriest way...and chalk is a aid,or cheat imo.

my idea of a cheat may differ from another persons.

everyone can have there own opinion.

a set on the two finger close could be a cheat but it is a stepping stone to doing it no set style.

just like hoseclamps are used..i dont consider that a cheat..but rather a tool to improve.

chalk is another story....if its used to record something, take for example a coc cert. then its not your hand vs the gripper.

my feats are not world class...therefor requier no said video proof.

to be honest its a compelment that one would need proof lol.

and i dont care enough to go put of my way to do this.

if a mn member wants to get together some time and has the knoledge and equitment to film something and post it...that would work for me.

btw...i used chalk for my vbar and rollingthunder.

but it was done in a garage for fun not a compitition.

Cant say I get it. You care enough to write it all down but not enough to silence doubts? I think that ppl including myself want to see evidence of the strength that you talk about so that they can draw their own conclusions about training methods that may suit them. Your high rep scheme is VERY interesting to me as I do not train more than triples. Plus I have an ongoing theory on the development of fast and slow twitch fibres.

With all due respect not all of us have the opportunity to see you compete or see you attend grip contests and some form of evidence to validate your feats would be all we need to ensure that your training logs are respected and believed.

However if you really dont want your posts to be a source of information to new and old ( and just a reference to yourself) then fair play. I would never have believed that the number #4 could have been mashed until I saw Kinney and Dave destroy it. Without the video evidence I would not have believed.

Obviously this is your call and sounds like you have your mind made up just wanted to express my views. Hope this is taken in the nature in which it is intended.

You've found a "style" that works for you...good job King! Most people have to spend quite a bit of wasted or diverted training time to find out what really works for them. I think your PRs are excellent. Keep going on man!

*sigh*

Another harcore trainer.

How the hell is chalk cheating? :rolleyes

You can either close it or not, pouring a pile of chalk on your hand isnt going to give you more strength.

God forbid you post your opinion on shirted benching.

That is the thing. It isn't. I know this guy doesn't wash/clean his hands every time he does grip work, which would mean the same thing. Artificial substances are on your hand, therefore you are cheating.

Chalk just keeps your hands dry. Do you yell at climbers who use chalk because you think they are cheating? Guess their climbs should be frowned upon.

I'll look into the issue of public schools using chalk. How dare my tax dollars go to chalk use!

You dont need shoes to run either, but they sure do help and make things better in the long run and dont do the work for you.

Enough of this unproven nonsense...let him say whatever he likes unproven. Hell I have closed the BB Pro TNS for reps so he can claim whatever he likes...and that was with oil on my hands. Chalk is for cheaters and not the hardcore trainers!!!!......Ahem

I have much the same irregularity (in grip training :D ) as you do!

I look forward to more updates on your workouts. BTW sounds like you are naturally good at this stuff-where did you start as far as lifts, closures go?
