Whats A "choker"?

Iv been reading both this board and grippermania.com and Iv read about something called a "choker".

Could you guys define what a choker is for me please.

I use a 1 1/2 washer for a choker (thanks to John OBrien, who got the idea from Clay Edgin) Works great on a #2, and on a #3 U just take a file to it to make a recess for the bigger spring....I have only been training grippers for about 6 weeks but have see huge improvement in the 3 weeks using a choker...Brett

I like to take a gripper I can't close with a set and squeeze it in the choker.

Hose clamp are cool too.
