It's been a long time since I've squatted 400 raw (no gear and/or wraps). It wasn't an easy rep, but decent in depth and speed. For years, after my knee injury, I wouldn't go above the low 300s before getting into briefs and knee wraps, so it is really cool to get back to this point, especially closing in on 45 and with over 30 years of squatting wear-and-tear. Have never bent the shorter/mid-stuff this fast. Definitely a different mindset. I tried the 19/64" bar DU and could have probably gotten a better first hit, but didn't want to go 100% all-out this close to the bending comp. Aside from some manageable hand pain and a little shoulder stiffness, all is pretty good. I needed to train. Taking most of last week off was too much ... just feeling way too edgy!
