nils Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 Congratulations too you all, especially Johan that beat some people that he has been behind before. Too bad that Mikael and Benny couldn't join the fun this time but it seems like you guys managed fine without them Quote
Jonathan McMillan Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 Thanks for reporting Arne! was the one handed lift a handle lift? Jon@han Quote 2007 goal: get a #3 shut
Mikael Siversson Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 A big congrat to Johan for taking it. Also well done Arne to closing the BBE and to win the v-bar! So then we have Johan, Jonas, Kalle and Benny in the Europeans later in the year. Quote
jimwylie1 Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 Good stuff. Well done to all Quote To those merry souls of other days- who again will make drinking a pleasure- who acheive contentment long before capacity- and who- whatever they may drink- prove able to carry it- and enjoy it- and remain gentlemen.
nagual Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 (edited) Hmm... if I understand correctly the score with grippers is calculated by multiplying the time closed with the rating if the gripper? Hmm... that seems kindof wierd since it arguably is easier to hold a #2 closed for 10 seconds than a #3 for 5 seconds (which would give a 20 respectivly 15 score). Cool stuff anyway! Congrats! David Horne Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 Well done to all. I wonder if everyone is as sore as I am? Anyway, see you all in a few months time. David Quote

The only weird thing is your interpretation. First you ask a question and then you interpret the (undisclosed) answer as weird. That is truly weird. Quote
Arne Posted May 2, 2004 Author Posted May 2, 2004 congrats to all! some great talents there.how hard were these nails? david They feel very closed to Davids nails. Quote
nagual Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 Maybe it was a bit unclear. Howerever I thought it was implied that I meant "if that is the case, then it seems weird". Do you dissagree btw, Mikael? Quote
OldGuy Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 The scoring for the grippers seems to be on a simple points system. The points for L & R hands are added together. I do not see any time factor in there. Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!

the swiss Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Arne, I have some of David's nails, but of the 8mm, there 2 very different kinds: shiny or dark. the dark ones are easier. I suspect the nails were close to the dark ones? thanks Quote
nagual Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Ah, ok... yes I see that now... points and all My bad Quote

I suspect the nails were close to the dark ones?thanks I think that the dark ones are hot rolled and much easier to bend if you compaired to the shiny ones (cold rolled). We had only need for the dark ones on our competition. Edited May 3, 2004 by Arne Quote

I suspect the nails were close to the dark ones?thanks David, I just tried 8 mm HRS bars of the same batch as those used in the LGC competition. They look and feel identical to the 8mm HRS challenge bars of David Horne's batch #4, which are rated as follow: Hot rolled steel bar 7 ½” 8mm 190k Hot rolled steel bar 7 ¼” 8mm 195k Hot rolled steel bar 7” 8mm 200k Hot rolled steel bar 6 ¾” 8mm 206k Hot rolled steel bar 6 ½” 8mm 212.5k Hot rolled steel bar 6 ¼” 8mm 218k Hot rolled steel bar 6” 8mm 225k Hot rolled steel bar 5 ¾” 8mm 231k Hot rolled steel bar 5 ½” 8mm 237.5k These bars favour a very strong crush rather than strong wrists. They are easy to kink but far harder than similary rated CRS to crush. Quote
