Guest simon lodge
Hi all Iv been reading the PDA calibration results, are the figures on the right referring to what it takes to close the gripper in lbs, if so Strongmans IM #3 =181 lbs. would loading 181 lbs on my plate loader be compatable as doing the Strongmans gripper. Roark
Simon, I think it is a different calculation. Years ago when I could squeeze out a few with 180 on the Hammer Strength grip machine, I put 50 lbs on the Nautilus grip machine, and it felt about the same as the 180 as far as difficulty. So it matters which grip machine you have, and keep in mind even if the 181 was equal in the example you gave, that would be for one hand, so if your machine requires two hands 362 would be needed. Guest simon lodge
Hi Roark My plate loader im using is based on Joe Kinney and Baraban Robert's machine, im wandering in closing it with two hands then holding on with one hand for negartives with 181 lbs that it might be compatable with Strongmans gripper. Roark
Simon, I have seen the Kinney video once (don't have it here now) and cannot recall how much weight he used for his negatives in relation to the resistance strength of the #4. Perhaps whatever ratio he was using would be of use to you. But he also performed high reps. Do you have access to his tape?
AP
force close a 3, then hold it with one hand... then try the same with your machine trying varying weights untill you get about the same feel. this may be all that matters because your mac will be different than joe's your 3 will be diff from other 3's and the whole purpose of a plate loaded machine is so u can vary the weights... if you don't have a 3 (or any cocs) the comparison is kind of irrelivent (ie, if i can close 180 i can close a #3) because you need the feel of the grippers and the technique to close them... Guest simon lodge
Roark I have seen a little bit of his video and what i can make out he uses around 400 lbs on his plate loader to get to IM #4. I think baraban robert's told me he does around 60 reps at the end of his work out but i do remeber Joe saying that his work out took about two hours to do as he needed to rest inbetween sets. I after a copy of Joe Kinney's video.
