climber511 Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Now guys, I agree those are some sweet collars but at $120 per pair, that seems like overkill for dumbbells. Are you sure you put up the correct Ivanko collar link? That's a spinlock Olympic collar. Monte Cristo2 Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Some cheaper ones are here: Olympic collars http://www.wwfitness.com/pltsbars.html Standard collars http://www.wwfitness.com/stdpltsbars.html Quote
apdwler Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 If your using olympic bars, u can use muffler clamps. I haven't been able to find 1" muffler clamps, though I'm told others have... Getting good cheap collars is getting tougher. Look at the play it again type stores for the black ones. I've had less good results with red metal ones. They are thinner and tend to break easy. The ones that come with new sets are plastic, and all but worthless with any weight. I sometimes use two one each side for safety. Another idea is to drill a hole in the end put one collar on and a bolt threw the hole to keep it safely on.... Quote
