Boris-Ruben-Vincent 0 0 The highlights: - Impressive One hand lift by Amaury with 200kg on his second try with the handle - great pr for me in that lift with 216kg and 220 coming off the floor, but my hand ripped open - Good effort by Yoann also who initially did not want to compete because of a recent injury but finally couldn't resist and set out a good performance. - Gregory was also a very impressive pincher, apparently thanks to his job where he gets to carry cement blocks in a pinch grip very often. A great day, some blood, some PRs, crappy bending strength, and to top it off, some campus boarding and a raclette!! can't wait till next time! Quote
nils Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 Gratulations to some nice results. Also I have to comment the size of the swiss! Small guys taking control of the swiss grip arena! Quote
The Mac Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 Congratulations to all - those are very impressive lifts. Quote Chris McCarthy
gazza Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 Excellent comp, excellent results, more so when you take in the bodyweight of david and Amaury Quote "There he goes. One of gods own prototypes. A high powered mutant of some kind never ever considered for mass production.Too weird to live and too rare to die."
Mikael Siversson Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 Yes, well done. Do you feel that the bending results for you and Amaury were down because of fatigue from all the other lifting? Quote
the swiss Posted April 18, 2004 Author Posted April 18, 2004 THanks! Mikael: yes, definitely!! it was a good test bending after all this, specially after the one hand lifting which takes a lot more out of people than it first seems Quote
amaury Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 Mikael : we were quite tired after the previous events As for me i tried to bend the 247.5kgs bar at first. I gave a very good kink in it and got exhausted trying to finish it. After that struggle i was only good for a 212.5kgs bar Quote
EricMilfeld Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 Congratulations to all! Very nice lifting David and Amaury! Quote
OldGuy Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 What was the setup for the onehand lift. What kind of handle was used? Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
the swiss Posted April 19, 2004 Author Posted April 19, 2004 the Horne handle used (same as for the next british comp and europeans). height of handle can be adjusted by the lifter, and the weight needs only be lifted 5cm. Quote
OldGuy Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 the Horne handle used (same as for the next british comp and europeans).height of handle can be adjusted by the lifter, and the weight needs only be lifted 5cm. Thanks. Were any pics taken of the events? Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
amaury Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 John, here are some pics taken by a swiss competitor (José), there will be others : http://fr.f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/cacaho...lbum?.dir=/efb5 Quote
Clay Edgin Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 The guy in that first picture has some freakishly long fingers! Quote
OldGuy Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 Excellent pics thanks! Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
amaury Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Thanks guys. Clay: in fact the guy in the first pic (Yoann) has not very long hands but he has very thin fingers and small wrists. His hands are under 8" since they are shorter than mine (we compared them). On the other hand that guy has monkey paws : http://fr.f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/cacaho...5&.dnm=5a10.jpg His hands are large and long, i suspect them to be in the 9" range (he is very tall). Quote
terminator Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Well done guys! Quote Real name: Pat Povilaitis
the swiss Posted April 21, 2004 Author Posted April 21, 2004 yes this time having large hands was a disadvantage, for a change. specially with the rim lift, which we can see with Eric's performance on the rim lift (Eric being the guy with the huge hands). Quote
The Mac Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 NIce Pics - thanls for putting them up! Quote Chris McCarthy
bseedot Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Great job to everyone! Looks like a fun contest. BC. Quote The cure for boredom is curiousity. There is no cure for curiousity.
3Crusher Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 David, What kind of implement was used for the one hand lift? It looked very odd shaped in the pictures. How far did it have to be lifted off the ground? What was the diameter of the handle used, and was it knurled? How long did the weight have to be held off the ground? Thanks. Steve Quote Don't you get it? Think for yourself, don't let others always do it for you. Master of The Mind Boggling Bud Lift. BURGUNDY POWER!!!!!!!
amaury Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 We used the Horne handle (same used for the next british comp and europeans). It is not knurled and David will correct me if i'm wrong but i think it has a 1" diameter. There must be a pic somewhere in the grip gallery. The weight had to be lifted 5cm off the ground, as judged by the referees (me and David alternatively), the standard to be met was therefore a certain height but not a certain time. I hope that it answers your questions Steve, Amaury. Quote
