The highlights:

- Impressive One hand lift by Amaury with 200kg on his second try with the handle

- great pr for me in that lift with 216kg and 220 coming off the floor, but my hand

ripped open

- Good effort by Yoann also who initially did not want to compete because of a recent injury but finally couldn't resist and set out a good performance.

- Gregory was also a very impressive pincher, apparently thanks to his job where he gets to carry cement blocks in a pinch grip very often.

A great day, some blood, some PRs, crappy bending strength, and to top it off, some campus boarding and a raclette!!

can't wait till next time!

Yes, well done.

Do you feel that the bending results for you and Amaury were down because of fatigue from all the other lifting?

THanks!

Mikael: yes, definitely!! it was a good test bending after all this, specially after the one hand lifting which takes a lot more out of people than it first seems

Mikael : we were quite tired after the previous events ;)

As for me i tried to bend the 247.5kgs bar at first. I gave a very good kink in it and got exhausted trying to finish it. After that struggle i was only good for a 212.5kgs bar :(

Congratulations to all!

Very nice lifting David and Amaury!

the Horne handle used (same as for the next british comp and europeans).

height of handle can be adjusted by the lifter, and the weight needs only be lifted 5cm.

Thanks. Were any pics taken of the events?

The guy in that first picture has some freakishly long fingers!

Thanks guys.

Clay: in fact the guy in the first pic (Yoann) has not very long hands but he has very thin fingers and small wrists. His hands are under 8" since they are shorter than mine (we compared them).

On the other hand that guy has monkey paws :

His hands are large and long, i suspect them to be in the 9" range (he is very tall).

yes this time having large hands was a disadvantage, for a change.

specially with the rim lift, which we can see with Eric's performance on the rim lift (Eric being the guy with the huge hands).

David,

What kind of implement was used for the one hand lift? It looked very odd shaped in the pictures. How far did it have to be lifted off the ground? What was the diameter of the handle used, and was it knurled? How long did the weight have to be held off the ground? Thanks.

Steve

We used the Horne handle (same used for the next british comp and europeans). It is not knurled and David will correct me if i'm wrong but i think it has a 1" diameter.

There must be a pic somewhere in the grip gallery.

The weight had to be lifted 5cm off the ground, as judged by the referees (me and David alternatively), the standard to be met was therefore a certain height but not a certain time.

I hope that it answers your questions Steve,

Amaury.
