Rick Browne
Received a couple of grippers from Warren Tetting today and with the grippers came a letter announcing his new trademark stamp to denote their strengths. (grippers renamed using the alphabet) As follows using the Alphabet for strengths and COC parallel: Beginner--A wiresize .225 COC T Advance-- B wiresize .235 COC #1 Super Advance--C wiresize .250 Master--D wiresize .260 COC #2 SuperMaster--E wiresize .273 GrandMaster--F wiresize .281 COC #3 Elite--G wiresize .291 SuperElite--H wiresize .306 GrandElite--I wiresize .312 COC #4 Pro--J wiresize .331 WorldClass--K wiresize .345 I guess it has been a month or so since I first contacted Warren to discuss a 4.5 inch handle gripper. I wanted to try an experiment based on the idea Tom Black presented to the Board a long while back. Tom drilled and tapped a gripper and extended the handles with washers and stovebolts. I think he used stovebolts? Anyway, I always wanted to try a gripper like this but never got around to doing it. Just for kicks, I asked Warren if he would make me one using an Elite. He agreed and today it arrived. Another tool to further strengthen the 'ol grip
tmmicklabs
So how do you like your Elite with the 4.5inch handles ? I ordered a Master from him yesterday with the 4.5inch handles. What is the spread on that thing ? 3 inches ?
Rick Browne
So how do you like your Elite with the 4.5inch handles ?I ordered a Master from him yesterday with the 4.5inch handles. What is the spread on that thing ? 3 inches ? Travis, I like it from first impression. It came out like I thought it would or hoped it would. I did not know what I was getting myself into with this gripper, especially it being the first one Tetting was going to make. But based on Tettings' thoughts about it, convinced me to try it out. Time will tell and some serious work with it to see how it pans out will be required. Jeff peterson mashed it a few times as he related in a previous post this week and he liked it. The handle spread is 3 3/16, but it does not feel that wide to me. It might even prove to be a tool to train the chest crush for bending nails. I am not a bender so do not take my word for it. The extra long handles do provide a good hand position to do a chest crush like you would a nail however. I chest crushed it in a mimic of what the bending guys have shown on the Board and it makes you work to get it
showlarson
I ordered a grand elite w/4.5 " handles and it was here (SD) in a week!!! Super fast. I sound like a ebay feedback report but I was very surprised to get a custom that fast. The GE is awesome, the spread makes it much easier than my brothers of the same model.
