MAXIMUM MIKE
I couldn't find any thread on the GB, even though there probably is one, on what do you use to file down a gripper, I don't have any power tools, I was looking for some kind of file suitable for metal, the wood files didn't look like it would work, any suggestions? Excuse my big city ignorance. Thanks, MM
br765
Use a metal file. Also make sure you get a small wire brush to clean the buildup out of the file. The aluminum will gunk it up fairly quick. Filing a gripper

Davekline
Anytime you are filing metal, you need to pause every few minutes and clean out the file with a filecard. Otherwise the build-up of metal in the groves of the file can work its way back and forth and mess up the file. Plus by keeping the file clean you will increase the efficiency of the task at hand. True....unless you have a file that is for aluminum... these files are hard to find from your local hardware store though
Davekline
I should also add the standard caveat when doing any type of cutting or filing. You can always go back and remove more material later, but you can't so easily put back material that you've removed. Keep that in mind when filing down any gripper. Or if ya got the $Dough$, have 2-3 of each gripper and do a graduated cut to each one
