Cunny
Does anyone here use grippers to mimick the crush in bending? If so how do you work it in your routine?
Sean Dockery
I use my #4 on non-bending days. I just pick it up and crush it as far as I can 5 times. This is after my morning calisthenics/grip work. BTW...I can't get my #4 fully closed like this.
tmmicklabs
I do. So does Dave Morton and Big Steve. I think Big Steve used a BB World Class to build up his crush for destroying the Red Nail.
Cunny
I'm only on the 180kg Challenge bar and use The T to warm-up or rep and also use the 1,2,and3. I don't have a 4 but do have hard 3's
bencrush
I've started bending in earnest. So I've been looking through the previous posts and thought that using a heavy gripper is a wonderful idea for training the crush aspect of bending. Currently the sticking point for me is still the initial bend, but I recently bent a 7" piece of 1/4" steel and found the crush part to be very hard (for me). So today I did 40 reps with the #3 (using both hands ) and after a short rest managed one full rep with the #4. I'm not sure how often to work these in, but I figure I'll just work on them after my regular gripper workouts. Thanks for the tip guys! David Ostlund
I do this once in awhile. I work with my #4 and my Constellation. I try about 3 explosive crushes on the C and get it as far as I can(a little past parallel on a good day) then maybe 5 or so full close singles on the 4. I try to make these reps as explosive as I can. Another thing I do is use the same padding(IM kevlar for me) on my hands for these as I do for bending. It makes it tougher to control and more closely simulates a bend. For assistance work though, I prefer doing rear levering to help the start of my bend which is the toughest part for me. OldGuy
I have been looking for a way to train the crush, and had forgotten all about using a hard gripper for this purpose.
