mANVIL
I'm looking to start getting into bending. Most people here lift weights and do other training besides grip, so my question is how do you guys incorporate bending into your other workouts? Most gripwork like grippers/blobs/sledge etc.. only works from the elbow down so it shouldnt interfere with any of your other lifts but bending is more of a full upperbody workout. I tend to overtrain easily (too much enthusiasm and a so-so recovery ability) and workout full body usually once every 4-6 days and gain well that way, and do sepcialized grip (pinch and crush) about 2-3 times a week. Do you guys bend on days you lift? days you do other grip activities or give bending it's own day? Also do you guys do any upper body warmup(maybe chest crushes with a very tough gripper or some light sledge work) on bending days or do you dive right into it? I really want to get into bending some serious steel but want to take it slow and conservative so as not to get injured. -Matt
CMunger
I like bending after I'm done with everything else. If I do it before, the hands and wrist are too trashed and adversely affect everything else. However, doing everything else (weights, farmer's, tire, stones) don't seem to affect my bending at all. LIMITED EXPERIENCE DISCLAIMER: I haven't been at this very long.
EricMilfeld
My experience has been that as long as my forearms aren't excessively pumped, I can bend after just about any workout with no ill effects. In fact, I bend better after some heavy multi joint movements like the powerlifts. Something to work my supporting or crushing strength prior to bending is also benerficial.
